Anyone got any comments or advice on this car, I've been in contact with the seller and it appears to have been sitting in his garage for 20+ years.
Thanks

Hi Caterham - best treat it as a complete ground up rebuild then. Assume the brakes will be siezed, the engine won't turn over and there is rust in the front beam and floorpan. Budget to fix all of these issues (plus paint, unless you like the grey primer look) and go from there. Everything that isn't as bad as you first assumed will be a bonus! If the car has been dry stored for all these years it shouldn't be too bad, but you should never assume anything in this game! Good luck if you decide to go for it, it does have the advantage of being relatively unmolested (more modern rear lights and quad headlamps are the only obvious deviation from the original shape), and all the panels look in reasonable order, particularly the rear panel, amazing if there is a 1700 under it! It looks like it is an original ADD car too, which usually means proper factory fitted windscreen Oops, just seen there is a crack in it, so new screen required. Registered as a Nova with DVLA is a bonus though, just don't pay over the odds for it. Oh, and bin the Cad pump and rams under the louvre; what a load of nonsense! Lauren

I love those wheels and it does look like a pretty good example, if I had more storage space I would buy it just for those! If it requires a body off then it might be more works as it looks like the front panel under tray and side seals have been glassed in

Thanks, doubled in price in the last 16 minutes, and I didn't get time for another bid after my £1,151 as there was only 8 seconds to go.

Doesn't mean it's really sold of course - amazing how many get re-listed very quickly!

That's a good price to get for a project car. Maybe we are starting to see a realisation that these are truly classics worthy of restoration.

Well, the winner pulled out claiming he'd entered the wrong amount. The runner up is now trying to arrange collection, as he lives in France. And if that falls through, then I'm in with a shout.

Sounds like a bizarre reverse Russian roulette - you get the thrill of bidding for something you like, but know you can't afford, then when you win the auction you have to find a way of backing out...
Good luck Caterham, sounds like you are in with a chance!

Caterham7, Tell the seller he has a patriotic duty to keep the Nove in the UK so he must pull out of the French Connection & let you have it.

Can anyone confirm if it'll fit on a PRG mini extra wide trailer.
Dimensions are; width 5' 7" / 1.725m length 11' / 3.35m
I think it does... just want to be sure before I drive all the way to collect with a loaned trailer that I haven't yet seen, instead of mine.

Hi Caterham - congratulations, that's a nice car at a very reasonable price (I paid £1000 for my Nova in a not dissimilar state, and that was 22 years ago!)
Standard VW front track is 59.4" and 58.5" rear - with a bit of positive offset, and half the width of the tyre each side, I would have thought you could get a Nova onto your trailer OK. Don't forget to tow the Nova with the car facing forwards, otherwise the louvre can be damaged.

Lauren However it should be towed backwards so the weight bias is at the front end of the trailer, or you can have some fun with the handling of the trailer. maybe take the louver off and put it in the tow car?

I must have missed that one on my Radar and I would have bitten the seller's hand off if I'd seen it. It looks like a lot of work ... but that's half the fun innit
