Hi all,

Despite the lack of Club attendance Sarah and I decided to continue to Newark last weekend and support the event.

We didn't camp, as the lack of a gazebo and on hand babysitters would have made setting up camp with Martha interesting. Instead we passed her over to my folks for the day and set off early on Saturday.

New company car got a good test, we did the 210 miles up in 3 hours exactly :whistling: and despite the bleak forecasts drove up in full sunshine.

On arrival we realised we were 50 mins ahead of opening time, so blagged into the main show area, rather than public car park.

This was the scene at 9.10 am

Image

We then found Alan (AKA Ciderman and Dad, and one all car club member) waiting patiently for the show to start having spent a night under canvas.

As we sipped our coffees we saw a familiar car arriving

Image

Rose, Ces, and the Nova I will always refer to as Nena took their place on the Club Nova pitch

Image

As the morning progressed Club Displays did grow, with a good selection of marques despite the occasional shower. The sun did burn through in spells though, and at one point we had to take our coats off as it was too hot !

The upper hall housed an interesting collection of American muscle - I loved this truck which arrived during a wetter period

Image

This MK was the tidiest car in the for sale area, and looked like a nicely set up track car

Image

This 3 wheeler was Novaesque with the removable canopy

Image

I spent a bit of time examining MEV sonic and rockets - looking at the side profile I can't help thinking it could be adapted to slot under a Nova body

Image

This rebody kit had me interested, two main panels, bolt/bond on and off you go - anyone guess the donor?

Image

Overall a good show, and well attended despite the bleak forecasts. Hopefully Sunday was a bit busier - it always is at newark I think. We departed at 2pm, and had a good journey back too, 3&1/2 hrs door to door, and again sunshine - the sun shines on the righteous.

Not so many pics to share as I got too much water in my lens but the rest are here:

Enjoy

With it scaled to same wheelbase and main chassis rails highlighted, I don't think so, too high

Thanks for that Peter.

I agree as it stands no, but the engine/gearbox package would fit in my opinion, particularly if you modify the rear bodywork to use space up to the louvres if required.

Just an idea though.................

James and Sarah

Thanks for posting the pictures and supporting the Club (along with Allun and his dad and Ces & Rose).

Sorry that we couldn't manage to provide the normal facilities, but 2 wet, cold 'n' windy shows already this year had worn thin with Mrs P who refused to drag the caravan for 3 hours each way in weather that was blowing down trees.

The sun in Somerset finally broke through the clouds on Sunday afternoon so I decided to take MicksRedNova out for a run - Mrs P even agreed to sit in the passenger seat (only the second time in 4 years  ). So we shot off down to Burnham-on-Sea to see Ray's progress on his Nova and take a copy of the Nova wiring diagram. It's only about 10 miles, but by the time we got there it was pi**ing down, and Mrs P discovered all the leaks in the passenger side window and sunroof that I haven't fixed yet :oops2: , so she probably won't go in it again.

Lets hope the weather improves for CarFest in August & September and the Exeter show on 21st October.

Mick

Mazda MX5. Not as well-proportioned as the Datsun 240Z based 250 GTO replicas of old, but I'm happier with the MX5 donor as there are more of them kicking about now than any other convertible sportscar in history :clapping:

Nice one Jim, I would have been there but the Green Machine is in bits again :oops2:

Hope Ces and Rose had a good time in spite of the weather.

Lauren

Should have known Lauren would guess right first!

And yes they are 10 a plenty. We got home and trawled eBay to find one 1 mile from us for £800!

A possible run about for Sarah me thinks. Maybe buy one coming up to Xmas when people want shot, and convert over the hols! Kit comes in at £1690.

They had a finished one in the hall, but this one was done in a weekend to show how simple it is. Also, unlike the Ferrari replicas it wasn't wearing ridiculous hub extensions to ruin the handling :nonono:

Understandable Mick. We made much better time in the new company hack (family friendly Skoda Octavia) than towing the buggy behind the T5!

Just an idea though.................

You would also need to move the seating, bring the steering wheel backwards, chop and lower top tubes and build supports for the body, chop off roll bar etc. in otherwords, start from scratch.
Lots of Novas and SSs have had the rear of the VW chassis chopped off and a transverse mid engine or even in-line mid engine fitted as well as tube chassis.

Thanks for that positive input Peter:............
