View Full Version : The National Kit Car Motor Show STONELEIGH '08

15-04-2008, 10:12 PM
It's that time of year again folks :groupwave:
Once again, the National Kit Car Show is upon us, Bank Holiday Weekend 4th/5th May 2008
ClubNova will be hosting up their usual stand 55c down by the main gate and causing the usual mayhem and "Bonkers-ness" that is fast becoming world famous. All info. and to save questions on the thread, when is it, where is it, how much to get in, etc. All is answered in the showguide: -

http://www.grosvenorexhibitions.co.uk/K ... eleigh.pdf (http://www.grosvenorexhibitions.co.uk/KitCar/Stoneleigh.pdf)

Post up if your going to be on stand so I know just how much I need to s t r e t c h it on Saturday before the punters arrive :D

Due to the unprecendented interest in the Nova :clapping: The club facilities, including camping on stand, will be strictly ClubNova/Avante members only. We will have ample room in our public show area for visitors.
Note: guests can be signed in once only by members. AGM 12:00 noon Sunday. Nominations for committee members welcome

Hope to meet all of you there and catch up

Nova convoy and meet up? Warwick Services M40 Northbound 12:00/1:00 Saturday afternoon 3rd May

15-04-2008, 10:31 PM
If I'm free that weekend, and I can find somewhere to stay, I may come along :)

15-04-2008, 10:34 PM
Hi Harry

I plan to attend, it may be with the Nova but still lots of work for MOT and time is short. I won't trailer it again if it's not ready 'cos everyones seen it (unfinished) already. But I would like to pitch my tent over the weekend so I have somewhere to sleep off whatever Jon brings :whistling: .

PS I will be selling Nova VIN Plates - see details elsewhere.

15-04-2008, 10:47 PM
Hiya Dan
If you want to camp it, I can sign you in as an associate member. You won't wanna be driving after a Nova night at Stoneleigh

Hiya Mick,
Stick me down for a VIN plate will PM details save you stamping them up at the show (and save a bit of drinking time) :cool1:

15-04-2008, 11:05 PM
Ok mate, I shall let you know for definate nearer the time :clapping:

16-04-2008, 07:47 AM
I'll be there Saturday with Nova. And tent. (probably can't get to the services that early though, but we'll see.....)

16-04-2008, 02:40 PM
I'll be coming up for the day on Sunday, hopefully in convoy with Nova Nigel. I've got an Italian car show to do on Saturday (its a hard life :D). See you there!

16-04-2008, 02:47 PM
If all goes well I should be there with the Nova (albeit it won't be pretty)

16-04-2008, 07:43 PM
That'll be cosmetic - it's a Nova, it can't help being pretty!!! (Unless you work REALLY hard at it. Like a certain Koon 'Design' in Germany for instance......)

16-04-2008, 08:12 PM
Hi harry,

As discussed at Detling briefly Sarah and I have a family christening on the Sun which means we won't get up to the show till mid to late Sun evening.

We do plan to camp Sun night and enjoy the show Monday, so if a 2 man tent space, and Nena shaped space can be available for the Sun pm we will be there !

Should be a bit more confident in Nena by then too !

19-04-2008, 01:04 AM
Hi DJH I will be there hopfully in the nova if not in my other car, it will be Sunday and Monday so a tent spot for me thanks.

25-04-2008, 01:47 PM
Absolutly gutted! I bought my Nova a month ago off Ebay and although I'm furiously working on it, it'll never be ready in time!! Will definatly have to come up and see you all at the show though. I've a thousand and one questions!!

25-04-2008, 07:31 PM
And you'll probably think of loads more when you get there! Look forward to putting more faces to names!

25-04-2008, 11:34 PM
Looks like Stoneleigh's gonna be a busy weekend :groupwave: Will have to change club AGM to 12noon Sunday.
The kit car fraternity of Pistonheads are looking at a big meet next door 55d at the AllCarClub at 1:00pm and a lot of them will be interested in the Nova.
Italo, the guy with the goatee. New Nova Concept CKC this month should be there and will welcome your opinions on his sketches. :ermm:

26-04-2008, 12:12 AM
Hiya DjH

I will meet you at Warwick Services M40 . :cool1:

What I can tell about New Nova Concept on Euro Nova. Should I bring wood and rope to make some thing to hang him on

Well my Nova let me down on the way, (coil packed up) and I ended up getting there in the 'daily driver' (only 5 hours to get back though, so there must have been a following wind!)

05-05-2008, 06:25 PM
Ahh Steve was there, I had a feeling he would be, I saw him leaving the other day and thought he would be going to the show.

Looking good on the pics Steve, but it looks better in the flesh

05-05-2008, 07:28 PM
Here you go: some more of Steve's amazing car!

To all,
Sorry I missed Stones this year. I was working 13hrs on sunday and Monday was half over by the time I got up. All going well my finances should be back on track by Newark and the reek should also be wearing a tax disk.

Hope the show was a success for you all and look forward to meeting everyone at some stage this year.

05-05-2008, 08:03 PM
You were missed, BB - the firewater was there and you weren't  (Saturday night party with laser lightshow went on 'til 6.30 am, Sunday until sometime after 4..... :whistling: ) and I can't make Newark as we're in Spain :cursing: , but hope to catch up with the Reek soon!!

05-05-2008, 08:06 PM
I am gutted that I couldn't get there and intend it to be a one off. I have always enjoyed the company of the Nova & eagle boys.
See you soon.

06-05-2008, 08:01 AM
It sounds like the campers had a great time.

Sarah and I only made it up for Sunday, having made the hard decision at 11.30pm Sat night to leave Nena at home ! (Got her running by 9.30 and had packed up tent etc, but thought a 3 hr test run to Stones might be a bit ambitious!)

We both did really enjoy the show on Sunday though, and thanks to everyone on the club that makes it happen - a great stand and always a nice place to come back to for a cuppa, and chat befiore the next walk around the sheds for that elusive part !!

We will definately make the next one in Nena !

Will post up Sarah's pictures soon

See you all soon,

06-05-2008, 08:09 PM
Liz took two pics of me setting off - all running fine. Little did I know I wasn't going to get as far as the A30.. :cursing:
Running again now with new coil and leads collared at the show.

And this is a shot of DJ's car being artistic:

06-05-2008, 09:46 PM
Alex the problem I had pulling into the club stand with my trailing coil, well when I got home it had snapped the other side of the bracket off and was rattling quite nicely onto of the tinware. Solution new bracket ordered and will fit in a more secure place.

That was my first real outing in the Nova since I had finished it, now has 300 miles on the clock and is settling down to be more dependable ( I hope ).

06-05-2008, 10:53 PM
Not to many piccys, the weekend started early. Great show, Brilliant Weekend! Nice to meet up with all the faces again

Saturday Set Up

Sunday Party  Lasers to fast for a digi camera :(

Show news and report will follow when the hangover has gone :bye2:

Hiya all

See attached collection of 'mugshots' of the Club Nova/Avante members and Euro-Nova users that were at Stoneleigh 2008 on the Club stand and allowed me to catch their pics.

Alex, I've edited the post above and changed the poster to Mick.

07-05-2008, 01:17 PM
Now, what to do with all those mug shots

07-05-2008, 07:40 PM
Great pics Mick. :kewlpics:

Damn, my beard looks grey - remind me to stick my head in a Nova oil-pan before the next one. :whistling:

07-05-2008, 10:44 PM
I think Mick added grey bits to all those with beards.

08-05-2008, 06:52 AM
WoW....you all look.....well.......'normal'.......well mostly.....

No need, I am afraid, to add grey to my beard.....

Hi everyone
If you were at Stoneleigh on the Club Nova stand you will have seen me pushing a video camera in everyones face during the weekend. The edited result is now on YouTube here:

It features the Novas of: Steve McHugh, Jimcub, Lauren, DJ Harry and Mike and Elaine :drive: (Purple Passion)

Sorry about the low quality of the YouTube film, the original is DVD quality but too large to post. If anyone wants a DVD of it then send me a PM and I can do one for the cost of the disk and postage.

10-05-2008, 07:09 PM
Excellent Video Mick, I'll have to get that off you and host it on the site :)
