Hi everyone,

Im having a problem getting a filter that fits my nova. A standard vw pancake filter is way to big so the engine hatch wont close, i exchanged it for a cone shaped filter and this sits to high so again the lid wont sit down.

What type of filter do i need??????????????

cheers

Much is going to depend on the type carb you have, ant. You'll need to measure the distance between the carb's air filter "base" - that little lip around the intake opening and the bottom of your lid to see how much space you actually have. There are lots of aftermarket low profile filters available, such as http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp ... C10%2D5640 (http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC%2DC10%2D5640) , you'll have to see what's locally available to you!

But try and avoid the cheap, very thin mesh-with-foam-sort-of-trapped-between-it type, you want something that will work...... I've got a 50mmish deep rounded-off rectangular (it's not oval either :confused1: ) K&N on mine which is sooooo much better than the (as already mentioned) rubbish the car came with.... :cheers:

Hi

Thanks for that, where did you get your one from Alex, and how much was it. The pancake was 12 quid, the cone shaped one a tenner, would you consider these cheap???

let me know.

cheers

Mine was a hugely expensive 2 quid, in it's box unused at Camborne car boot sale - I think it would probably have been £45ish new - and most of the similar ones seem to be that sort of price from places like Demon Tweaks. Kit car shows are pretty good sources for bargains.....

I would expect to pay between £20 to £50 for what you need from a motor factors of some sort Ant.

Mine was pretty much identical to this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/K-N-Air-Filter-Fo ... dZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/K-N-Air-Filter-Ford-Escort-Fiesta_W0QQitemZ280232744823QQihZ018QQcategoryZ366 80QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) - I had to alter the base a fraction to fit the Solex, but it did the job for me......

I had the same problem with my 1500 and a nikki carb which has an adapter on the top, found a KN which sated for race use only for £42.
