View Full Version : The Surrey Dash II (with Alfaowner.com): 22nd June

Alfaowner is one of the less elitist marque forums to which I subscribe, and they organised a fun run from Epsom Downs to Hayling Island, following a challenging route originally developed by Pistonheads.

The weather was great for this type of driving, although the bright sunshine made my funky chrome sunglasses obligatory eyewear and once again cockpit temperatures were a little warm, much to the amusement of the other AO'ers who had all turned up in modern Alfas. Not that that precluded them from breaking down, we had to jump-start a black 147 before we even started!

Anyway, here's a few snaps from a fun day out, courtesy of AO's busiest snapper (one of the things I love about AO is they are sooooo media-savvy, all these pictures were up on the site less than 5 hours after we left Hayling beach):

Ready for the start at the Derby Arms pub on Epsom Downs

Does my bum look big in this?

People always talk down to you in a Nova :D

View from the Trundles car park near Goodwood

Unflattering shot of car park manouvers...

The Green Machine made it to Hayling beach! The worst obstacle in the whole route was the enormous speed bump at the entrance!

Green Machine and beach huts - boy, was it windy yesterday!

A very windswept yours truly :D

The Green Machine had a really good workout, probably more so than ever before. I'll give the car a good check over (I just tucked her away in the garage when I got home last night), but if she survived that, the smooth airfield circuit at RAF Woodbridge should be no problem!

Doing the Nova PR justice again

Well done Lauren,

The Green Machine is getting used to trips to the coast, first Brighton and now Hayling Island.
