I heard from my colleagues at Alfaowner.com that a Gulf-liveried Nova had been spotted on the M25, and now this Youtube video pops up (which I can't view) with a thumbnail view showing the car in London.

Here's the linky I grabbed for it, does anyone know this car?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aEAqU03Tn0

I do like the Gulf racing livery, but its a bit presumptious on a car with virtually no racing heritage, let alone sponsorship from the Gulf oil company :nonono:

Lauren, I'm sure that video has been linked here before.

As for the Gulf colour scheme, it looks great, and someone in the Eureka club was thinking of doing the same.

Not me, though I am going to repaint my 'reek at some stage.

:sorry:

Serves me right for not having a decent PC/high bandwidth connection. I take it nobody on Euronova owns this car? What year is it? Air-cooled or something more exotic? C'mon, somebody spill!

If my memory serves me correctly - I believe that car was offered for sale on the old Nova International Forum. The car was in Northern Ireland so was presumably sold to someone who lives in London.

Lauren,

I know you like retro and all that, but you are really missing out on the gadgets of the 21st century (i.e. Broadband, Digital Camera). We won't tell anyone if you buy them, honest :bleh:

Don't worry Dave, its on the cards - upgrade PC, get broadband, digicam and a sound system upgrade so I can play my CDs on something other than my PC!

Green Machine will remain firmly rooted in the 1970's however :D

...and you'll never look back!
I don't know how you cope on dial up internet, Lauren!
I've got a high speed broadband package, for example if I wanted to I could download a movie in about 40 minutes and a song in about 20 seconds.
Thing is, it feels slow to me now!

Helps with running this place though, any slower than what I have and it would take weeks to move information around on the ftp server.

Absolutely! And that would stop this forum being the lively, interactive place it is. Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of technology, I just don't like the way car manufacturers went with it... or architects, interior designers, consumer electronics... pretty much everything really :annoyed:

There's a good computer outlet down here called Novatech (good name :D) and I've identified a suitable "future-proofed" system (if I'm actually going to spend money on a PC I fully intend to get maximum use out of it!) which should suit my needs. It is galling having to consider paying for broadband though - I don't have cable, and my dial-up fees usually don't exceed 10 a quarter... still, its only money isn't it?

Sorry Lauren if that sounded wrong. Wasn't meant to come across that way.

I'm with you lauren, I need a computer/high speed upgrade everything is so slow. I have to let my computer sit for ever to upload pictures and won't even try to download anything!!
So I cant even watch YouTube because it drives me INSANE watching 1 second every minute or so.

At least you have the option of 'proper' broadband Lauren, we've got the fastest connection possible on our line (512k) we're just too far from the exchange. One of the downsides of living in a remote and beautiful location, I guess :whistling:

Err, I think you mean 4 gig ram, and that your broadband has an 8 gig limit. 8 meg wont get you far these days. lol

Well, whatever Jim's got its faster than my AMD K500, but I'm steering clear of Vista and sticking with Win XP - I don't want to waste processing power on frills I don't need. Novatech are still selling new machines with the option of XP, it sounds like Vista could be the new Win ME...

Back on-topic, I noticed the canopy was up in the thumbnail image too. I wondered whether the car was getting a police escort through London :cool1:

4 gig yes and 8 meg download speed is correct, don't forget we only started with 256Kb when it came out.

The Gulf Nova was sold on Ebay, tried to convince my mate to buy it and he kicked himself afterwards as it went quite reasonably (3kish?). Was located in Ireland, spoke to the chap selling and he seemed very genuine. IMHO it suits the livery perfectly, only the kill switch, GT40 window portholes and extra decals ruin the effect a little.

Yes! Me like muchly!

Thanks for posting the pictures, Simpatico - you've got a regular stash of interesting stuff, haven't you?

I agree the racing style slidy windows aren't pretty, but in other respects I agree the Gulf colours look great on the car.

The car was indeed up for sale on e-bay a while back - I looked hard at it - it was BN (before Nena)

The You tube videos have been round for some time, there was also one of it going under a car park barrier !

Ian of CKC was also aware of the car when we were chatting at Goodwood, as the GT40 got me thinking about adding some period decals to Nena.

I did save the e-bay pictures for the car, I don't beleive the owner is on here - I love the 70's interior.

Wow, awesome!! Not sure about the tartan inlay in the interior, but it's one of the neatest interiors I've seen of our breed. Very nice. :cool1:

Thanks for posting those pictures Jim - it seems to be a late ADD car. The interior is just soooooo 1970's (remember when all cars had tartan interior trim?)

Its great to see the original factory seats etc. have been retained in such good condition (must have been re-trimmed, surely?).

What a machine!

We're talking North Circular in London ripping past doesn't happen anymore on there due to sodding speed camera's and 40mph speed limit. Twenty years ago we used to race on it as there were no camera's just had to look out for the plods.

However it did look good and certainly makes people look, nice to see it been used as means of transport rather than just a toy at the weekend.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. We have the most speed cameras in my State in my area. Still a few quiet country roads....
