Was this the one advertised before?

I can only presume it isnt very good or why would he not sell it with a shell as an ongoing project or better still finish it?

Hmm - I wonder if that is a Sam Cobley chassis? The beefy box section looks right, as is the transverse engine configuration (although Sam originally marketed the chassis for XR3 power). You'd think if he was selling just the chassis he would have taken the Nova shell off completely - this is virtually a "sold unseen" :ermm:

Hi Colin - Sam never developed his chassis into a running car before he sold the company, so from that point of view alone its an unknown quantity. If this is one of his chassis (this is one of only three that were sold and Club member Richard Aldous has another) then it should have Richard Oakes designed double wishbone front suspension using Ford uprights (possibly Cortina, like mine) and an Escort Mk2 rack. So that bit should be OK. My worry is that, as is usual, the new owner has decided that there isn't enough power and has grafted in an Alfa 164 engine (and maybe suspension as well, otherwise its cut'n'shut driveshafts :ermm: ), so not only does the chassis lack development, so does the running gear.

Alex has the only modified Mk4 bodyshell in his mould mountain - it had cut outs for the brake servo and various other clearance issues. The seller says "may require some modification to the body", but you can read that as mandatory.

I'm pretty sure this is the same chassis that popped up before (for a couple of days) before being removed. At least you have a couple of pictures this time but whoever takes this on will have a lot of work to do!

Caveat emptor is, I believe, the operative word :bye2:

Supplemental - wheels are 4-stud Ford all round, so the driveshafts must have been modified.

Delta Integrale Alfa V6???? What is he gibbering on about? The Lancia Delta Integrale had a 4-cylinder engine... :lmfao:

Oh, and the statement "it already has racing double wishbone suspension" only applies to the front (maybe); its clearly standard Macpherson strut at the back (probably with Escort Mk3 spring rates).

I've always believed that Sam's chassis was a good design, and I was happy to tell him so (he showed me the pictures of it while it was still in development as he knew I wouldn't be buying one :D). Still a big job for somebody though...
