I thought we'd stopped listing Chargers...... :whistling: On the other hand, they may not have a club of their own so we could extend a hand to the ugly-duckling, sister VW based kit owners - what do you think?

ugly-duckling

Whatever!

I'd totally have one, I wouldn't say it's as nice a looker as a Nova but it's completely different, unique and interesting to anything else on the road. I especially love the side window in front of the gullwing doors.
Although I do think the mark 2 is the one i'd have. A little more refined.
One of the guys on the Eagle forum has (i think) a mark 2, but his progress is pretty slow on it which is a shame as it would be good to see it on the road.

Okay, here's the 'Siva Saluki' on which all Chargers are based.....

Basic or what?

I like the Saluki better than the Charger, mainly because the side glazing extends all the way down to the sills. Somehow it looks more outrageous that way!

Flush glazing all round and a mid-mount, somebody needs to do it...

Anyone know what windows were used, from other sources sounds like only 12 were made. And if there are no windows then like Eagles it may get expensive.

another one

I thought they were all flat glass so not an issue.

That's correct, only 12 Salukis were made, but the Charger used the same windscreen and there are a lot more of them around. Flat glass would seem to be a logical solution, although I can't help wondering if a production screen was used (from a lorry or something). Often there is a little bit of camber visible in pictures of completed cars (yes, one or two have been finished, although I have never seen one myself).

Maybe Trickett was just having a laugh at our expense, but the depth of the windscreen seems very short in comparison to the large side glazing (although that was Perspex). He could have made a much larger hexagonal shaped screen which might have improved the looks from the front (like the B&B CW311/Isdera Imperator, although many people seem to dislike the styling).

Car styling is highly subjective, and many designs from 70s look unfamiliar to modern eyes. But in all of their exaggerated forms they capture some of the excitement at the time. Everyone likes the Countach, all agree it looks purposeful, but very few would call it beautiful. Go figure :D

This one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-1500-W ... 3a55410545 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-1500-WHITE_W0QQitemZ250538427717QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAuto mobiles_UK?hash=item3a55410545)
is actually road going and legal - so they do get finished sometimes!

I would need an engine hoist to get me in and out of that one :( .

So, let me get this straight... The owner filled in the gull-wings (preferring instead to hop in and out pver the side), but left the door handles in the original position :confused1:

Still, as you say Alex, one or two have obviously made it onto the road!
