A little over my budget I'm afraid Rick, and the styling isn't quite me, but thanks for pointing it out just the same. I remember the Sbarro Challenge from waaaaay back in the late 80's. Interesting machine... there was a Challenge I and II IIRC, the first Porkie powered I think. Then there was the Monster, which used a 6.3 litre Merc V8 in a 4x4 chassis with jumbo jet wheels, a Merc 540K replica, a Bugatti Royale with a V16 engine made out of two 3.5 litre Rover V8s joined end-to-end, a Lola T70 coupe with a choice of engines, and small batch of GT40 replicas, which were passed off as the real thing with cloned vehicle id... He's a busy chap, our Franco :D

He's done one or two more machines in recent years, including a Ferrari Testarossa based coupe and a strange roadster with enormous longitunial roll hoops that doubled as cold air feeds for the mid-mounted engine.

...Oh, not forgetting the Super 12 - fibreglass hatchback with two coupled Kawasaki ZZR1100 six-cylinder engines in the back

 More than a little out of my budget, too, but I thought you'd appreciate the famous '80's wedge. I never did like the back end treatment, but from the photos of the sale, it's starting to grow on me. Still, it's got papers...and Peter isn't too far from there. Maybe I can hit the lottery tonight...

Sbarro... don't they make pizza too? I went to school with 2 Sbarro's. Their father owned/own the Pizza chain.

Hi Mark - it was one of these, I'm sure you remember them...

...on ebay for $88k when I looked last night. Not exactly pretty, but certainly dramatic. Like Rick, I'm not a fan of the rear end treatment, although it does look like a slice of Gruyere, yum!

Wow, haven't seen one of those before. Can't say I'm over fond of the rear end treatment either. Want to know what the funny thing is, as soon as I saw the car, I was thinking '80's. Then I saw the third photo, and thought mid '80's. Lastly I noticed the title of the page, 1985 Sbarro Challenge (Sbarro). Bang on the money. lol

Was just looking at the Monster G. Wasn't that used in a movie somewhere??
