View Full Version : Stoneleigh 2010 - The National Kit Car Motor Show

24-04-2010, 10:16 PM
Hi to all Club Nova members.

It's only a week to the Stoneleigh event. We will be on the same pitch as usual (55c) just inside the KitCar entrance.

As usual the Club will be there to offer you a place to park your Nova, sit and rest, join us for some refreshments or camp with us. In order to get an idea of how many we need to cater food for please let me know if you are coming, which day(s) and whether you will need breakfast, lunch, supper or after-drinks burger :nonono: so that I can run the 'Cucumber Calculator. in plenty of time.

Either post your answer on this thread, PM me or respond to the email I am about to send to you registered email address.

Hope to see you all there - with your Nova's.

PS. Don't forget it's also the CLub AGM - see the thread on the Club Nova forum for Club business where you will find last years minutes.

Obviously we will be there Mick, so put us down for large portions of everything, especially Sue's carrot cake 'cos Mike loves the ginger flavour

See you there,

Elaine & Mike

Sunday morning until monday afternoon

Hi Mick - I'm at Brooklands on Saturday, so I will be up there Sunday for the day. Depending on the weather I might have another show on Monday to do (keeps me off the streets I suppose :whistling: )

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

It's a possibility I may be there but won't be around for too long as I will be looking around the show and have to get back for work :nonono:

I'll show my face though if I can find the stand.

Our plan is to turn up on Saturday, stay Sunday and head off earlyish Monday, but whether that is what ends up happening remains to be seen..... (Car still smells of mouse :cursing: )

All Club members

As an added incentive to those who are yet to decide whether to bring their Nova, Avante, Eureka or other associated Kit-Car along to Stoneleigh I will be giving each driver that drives (or tows/trailers) their Nova to the shows this year a specially crafted, exclusive Club Nova window sticker.

Purple Passion and Green Machine, who braved the weather at Detling, will be getting theirs next time I see them.

Don't forget folks - you can't buy these - it's an attendance only prize :clapping: be there or miss out. :bleh:

Hi Mick - is there a contact number just in case we only make it half way - I'd like to be able to say we're not coming if we mechanically can't......... :blushing: (not that I don't trust the machinery of course!)

I will PM my mobile number to you (and any other members if they ask) so you can advise of progress.

PS. Have you thought about getting a treadmill wheel as an auxilliary power source for that family of mice

G'day Guy's n Gals

Unfortunately I will not make the show this year, but will be thinking of you all.
Was a great start to my UK trip last year. Wish I was there.

However, we must keep our end up and as such we are holding a few gatherings in honor of the Eureka.

In South Oz there will be the usual dinner meeting and as I'm some 3,000Km away in Queensland, we are having a small local gathering here too.

Keep up the good work. I may catch up in person next year. :crossfinger:

Av a good one. :clapping:

Say G'day (if you can) to everybody

Mike has normally posted travel arrangements by now for anyone travelling up on Saturday, as he hasn't done so yet I will propose the same arrangement as last year:

Join the M40 north (towards Birmingham) and aim to arrive at 'Warwick Services' around 2.30pm (just past Junction 12 of the M40).

Follow directions for Lorry's and Caravans to the top car park, plenty of room.

Leaving services around 3.30pm for last leg to Stone's. Anyone meeting up PM me or Mike with your mobile number so we can check on your progress if you are running late, we will wait for you. I will PM you my number by return.

See you there for a Cake and Coffee break. If not see you at Stoneleigh. :crossfinger:

Looking doubtful I'll be there now guys, work have messed me about something rotten and after a whole day on the phone going mental at them I still haven't got any further forward :argue:

Thanks to everyone who attended the show, with or without their Nova's. It was a great weekend spoilt by the typical British weather.

We had an excellent turnout - 9 Nova's on Sunday (well 8+1 Eureka really) so thanks to the following for helping the Club to put on a show of machinery: Mike and Elaine (Pink-Passion which helped attract Vicki Butler Henderson onto the stand), Martin (Bushboy), Jim (Jimcub), Lauren (Green Machine), Dirk, Dave (Islandman), Kevin (Nova Ice), Alex & Liz (Alzax) and Me (MicksRedNova). Also to Phil (an ex Nova owner) who brought along one of his other kits to the show in place of the yellow Jago.

Note to MicksRedNova, Dirk and Alex - Don't park under the tree next year!! :nonono: It took ages to pic the bits out on Sunday morning.

Mike is just about to fulfil a lifelong ambition and trap Vicki Butler Henderson in Purple Passion, but remembers as he turns the key that his 'cunning plan' needed him to be in the car too.

Apologies for taking so long to post these.

I have also put a link to all of our Stoneleigh pics under Events.

Here are the Club Nova Award shots - I am sure Mick will fill in the gaps where I have forgotten the official title or names etc

Josh receiving his Award for Club supporter/helper

Jim receiving his continual improvement award - did nothing fall off on the way home either Jim ?!

Islandman (Dave) receiving his long distance award - flew in from Singapore

Lauren receiving the 'Putting it about' award, for Nova press and show attendance

and here is one of 'The Management' :oops2: , I mean the committee.

See you all at Newark,

No nothing fell off at all, only bother I had was the wiper slipping in the rain so I had to lean to the left to see out of the screen, I had to wait for 17 miles before I got to a service area and a simple bit of work with a spanner and no more slipping, good job I did it because as I left the service area it started to rain again.

We get a mention in the Complete Kit Car magazine this month (July 2010 issue) as a result of Viki B-H visiting the Club Nova stand at Stoneleigh. A short piece congratulating the Club for attracting the celeb to our stand is accompanied by a picture of VBH and Mike (Purple Passion) which was sent to me by Martin (BushBoy) which I forwarded to the mag.

So congrats to BushBoy for getting his pic credited in the mag and to Mike for getting Purple Passion (and his right ear ) in a 4" x 2" on page 32. :clapping: :groupwave:
