I've just picked up my new screen :)

11-05-2010, 05:06 PM
Will that fit an avante?
Or do you have a nova aswell?

11-05-2010, 07:59 PM
A Nova screen will fit an Avante, I've already got one to go in it, but thought I'd get this one for a bit of insurance! But the plot thickens, I've brought it back, sat it next to my Nova screen, and its different! Not as much curvature, not quite as wide, not quite as tall. Methinks it is indeed an Eagle screen!! Have I found a hens tooth here???

If it is a eagle SS screen you got an absolute bargain, you could probly resell for 450!
See if you can get it copied, would realy help out the eagle guys and you would probly make some money out of it somewhere.

Chris I'm thinking about that at the moment :) Any ideas how many Eagles are in need of screens??

12-05-2010, 06:40 PM
I think (though not 100% sure) theres about 3 desperately wanting and a good few more who would be happy to pay for a spare just in case....

not sure if it helps to identify but this is my screen....im sure chris can provide a better few since he just removed his, i would but im at uni adm.

I'll need some dimensions really, like across the widest part of the screen and depth top to bottom, then on the weekend I can figure out what I've got

12-05-2010, 11:25 PM
Hiya JemP

The Eagle screen is about 3" shorter top to bottom than a Nova and about 1 1/2" across .

Peter has put up a part number on the site?

18-05-2010, 02:44 PM
Okay, got the tape measure out on the screen today and came up with the following

Top to bottom in the middle of the screen is approx 930mm
Edge to Edge at the widest point near the bottom corners is approx 1290mm
Edge to Edge at the narrowest point near the top corners is approx 820mm ( I think, I'm writing this hours after measuring and being a man my brain struggles with more than two pieces of info in it at one time!!)

There are no numbers on the screen, no kite mark, no nothing! The curvature is a lot flatter than the Nova screen I have, if I place it over the Nova screen, the edges are proud by around an inch on each side!

so what have I got?? knowing my luck its some bloody obscure tractor cab screen!!

Less curvature definitely sounds like an Eagle screen - they had to be made flatter (although the overall area is very similar, if not identical) to accommodate the thicker A-pillars needed to support the screen surround and gullwing doors. How about a curvature measurement? Run a straight edge between the bottom corners and measure the depth at centre span. That should be a measurement that our Eagle owners could do even with the screen on the car, and should be fairly unequivocal...

I'll do that tonight, hopefully this could be an Eagle screen, if so, I'll be happy to sort out some way of getting more of them made.

19-05-2010, 06:21 PM
right, screen curvature is definitely flatter!! Measuring in off a stick across the lower corners, the maximum depth is 50mm. Doing the same thing on the Nova screen is 75mm

20-05-2010, 08:50 PM
Nice one Jem. OK - over to you eagle-eyed Eagle owners... what's your screen curvature?

21-05-2010, 08:05 AM
If this is an Eagle screen, I'll look and see if there's an interest on the eagle sites for production fo a few screens from it. If theres no interest I'll give it to my Dad to use on his allotment!

21-05-2010, 04:01 PM
Everybody on the eagle site needs a screen, only trouble is its impossible to find somebody who can make them, cheap enough anyway.

21-05-2010, 05:00 PM
I still dont know if this is a Eagle screen, can you help?

Somewhere on here there is a reference to a company that will make screens from a template, if I recall it was about 450 for the first one and about 150 for each one thereafter (someone go check first).
If no one does a measurement of an Eagle screen I will get the one I have out and give it a look over, it's just that it is buried in a gargae somewhere with the new Nova screen and I'm not sure which one it's in.
I did already offer it as a template as well as the Nova one but no one said yes. the eagle one is still in the screen surround so the shape is perfect as the screen surround on an eagle has some steel reinforcement in it.

Yep, agree with you BBC, the demand doesnt seem to be there.

24-05-2010, 08:19 AM
There is someone on the eagle site trying to get a price from their screen. I think I you could get the price to under 200 the demand would be there. There's not only those who buy the eBay kits minus screens, who log on to the eagle forum and their first post is usually "new owner, need windscreen, please help". But I would think those with screens would like a back up, I know I would.
But so far the few quotes given by companies recently have not only been 400+ but also need a minimum number of orders, which is difficult to get.

24-05-2010, 02:40 PM
Can you help me out then? Have I got an Eagle screen?

If so I should be able to offer these out at around 250 a piece.

24-05-2010, 03:27 PM
Unfortunately I'm still at uni in coventy for another few weeks. When I get home I will definitely measure my screen if no one has confirmed/denied. 250 sounds a pretty good price.

24-05-2010, 05:30 PM
I don't want to go racing to the Eagle forum until I'm sure on this one. I went to Cov Uni, although it was still called Lanchester Poly back then :)

24-05-2010, 05:33 PM
Ok, I finaly got off my arse and measured the screen. The measurements are approximate, all I could do on my own with a tape measure and a broom stick.
I used flat edge across the screen and meaured the curvature from that at top and bottom.

24-05-2010, 05:34 PM
Most of the buildings/lifts still have lanchester poly plastered over them. :clapping:

26-05-2010, 01:20 PM
Comparing your measurements to mine (approx), you have an eagle screen
Maybe yours is a remade (copy) being as it has no markings, mine has all the markings on it which trace it back to the pilkington factory in birmingham which is conviently nolonger there, tooling gone also.

26-05-2010, 09:28 PM
right, I'll look into getting some made up

27-05-2010, 08:43 AM
MY SS screens maximum apature is 930h x 1302w
as opposed to Nova 948h x 1315w
So Chris's drawing is as close as it gets and I would say it is an Eagle SS screen.
