On evilbay someone will have to post the link but the item number is 250651910856 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3D1&_rdc=1 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250651910856&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3D R40%26_trksid%3Dm570%26_nkw%3D250651910856%26_fvi% 3D1&_rdc=1)

I'm not sure the price will be achieved but I certainly wouldn't swap it for any of the ones he is looking at, this has to be rarer and as it's finished then why?

Oh incase you didn't realise I like it.

I have always liked them, they are unique like the Nova, I like the Ultima and the GT40 and I’m not sure which I would choose if I had the money. I don’t need to worry cos I’ve not got the money and I love my Nova :clapping:

Very nice, agree that I would not swap it for the alternatives mentioned. 25 Grand sounds unlikely unless the car is finished to an exceptional standard.

Did you notice the rather sad Bonito project on the same page ? - listed as one of the most watched:

Well its a good job we don't all think the same, because to me, thats one ugly car! I'd swop it for an Ultima in a blink of an eye!

The Bonito however :) if only I had the space!!

It is a Manta, and looks likes it finished quite well. The tube frame versions here - undoubtably this is one as well - fetch good money, but no where near the £25K he's asking. Most of ours would sell between $15 and $20K USD if they were built to the standard that this one shows.

Hmm - I always thought the Tornado M6 replica was unrelated to the Manta - which was sold in the UK through VW specialsts UVA. The Tornado had a flatter roofline than the more smoothly contoured Manta/UVA offering, although obviously the windscreen used was the same in each case. And the Tornado started off with a tube-frame chassis right from the start, rather than an adapted VW base, IIRC.

Although a quality-looking build there was always something about the M6 GT which looked a bit odd to me. The GT40 had a better aesthetic, but more antiquated aerodynamics. My favourite sports racing cars from the era are the Lola T70 Mk3(a) and the Ford F3L, and latterly the amazing Piper GTR. The Lola was available in Mk3b form as a replica from GTD, although it sold poorly compared with the GTD40...

In spite of the fact that the Ultima has the best chassis of the lot, its ungainly styling means I wouldn't have one as a gift - the original Porsche 962 inspired Mk1 made a lot more sense... :sorry:

I helped finish off a Mk1 Ultima with a volvo v6 in the back, it was amazingly fast to the extent that a 928 porker backed off big time on errr a private road honest. On one occassion when I was driving it the drivers gullwing door catch released and the door flipped up violently (I was doing close to 90mph at this point) I slowed as quickly as I could expecting the worst only to be pleasently surprised that nothing broke, told my friend and we re-did both catches.
The car ran arrow straight and was unbelievable around the bends even on undulating roads. It was however not that easy to drive due to it's width and length, and in my eyes was a little too squared off and slab sided.
Was eventually sold to a German who came over and drove it back to do racing with (I assume that he put a bigger and better engine in).

You're right as usual, Lauren. Our Manta does have smoother curves, especially over the fenders. The doors have a different cut as well. But it makes an interesting heritage question - which came first?

I'm pretty sure the Manta was first on the scene, certainly in the US, where it was produced from the late '70s; the Tornado version commenced production in the mid '80s using a tubular chassis which was later adapted for their GT40 replica. According to their company profile, demand for the GT40 was so great that the M6 GT was dropped in 1992. Shame really, but as I said there is a general "angularity" about the look which doesn't come across as well as the Manta - although I have no idea how close either of them are to the original - of which I think only 3 or possibly 4 were built.

Very nice car, but it has that kitcar look about it, cant say what makes it look like its been built in a garage but it just does, like our novas and eagles etc, they just have that kitcar look which puts alot of people off.
£25000 in this economy is asking alot, especially for a kitcar.
If I had to choose it would be the ultima gtr every day of the week, goregous car!. maybe one day?
