How do the small electric cars (g-wiz) heat themselves? What do they use?

And if that fails... the burning insulation on the motor...

They use a 4kW electric heater - which is obviously using the same power source as the vehicle i.e. the rechargeable batteries. Using the heater cuts down the range of a G-wiz by about 25%!!

And im guessing that wouldnt work/recharge quick enough with a beetle alternator/dynamo? Even with an additional Leisure battery?

4000 watts, 12 v = somewhere around 340 Amps!!

Think about putting 70 headlamps on the front of the car and trying to power them :)

Hi Jem,

See your point- how about one of those cab heaters the trucks have for when they are parked up.? There must be a petrol version

The vw bus pple use einsprackers (spelling) petrol heaters. But they're quite large and very expensive 300+

Eberspacher heaters, its an option. I know that they have been fitted to Nova and Avante before now.

Besides the stock heater boxes I think the 2nd best method for heat in our cars is an oil cooler set up to use the heat from the oil to heat the air.
