I looked at this 2 weeks ago but it was no use to me as a totally different shape, I know the new engine cover that will replace this will be a neater fit.

That is the same shape cover that my Nova has and I hate it. I've lost count how many times I've stared at it on the Nova thinking "this looks so crap".

I'm planning on getting rid of it and forming an aluminium template to make a new glassfibre cover. It doesn't need extra height at all so I'm going flat baby. With vents.

You mean, something like this?

It's 'a totally different shape' to Jimcub's because it's a Mk2 not a Mk4 - one of the 'improvements' that the Elams made that Sam Cobley sorted out. I still prefer the Mk1s though. :whistling:

I'd like to see a photo of the mark 4 version if possible.

Cyco, yours is pretty cool. Reminds me of a Ferrari 328. I notice you have straightened the top panel too. Doesn't that make the rear window narrower?

Giles.

Don't forget I'm in Oz and own a Eureka, not a Nova or Stirling. My Eureka is an F4 model. As such, the rear end of the body was redesigned to accept a Ford 4 cylinder, or other 4 cylinder for that matter. The rear deck is indeed flat, and the rear window is a few inches narrower. But really, the rear view in these things is subjective anyway. You don't see a hell of a lot out the rear window in these things anyway, especially with the rear view mirrors usually mounted up high on the windscreen (mine's on the instrument pod).

As for the engine cover, that's stock. All F4s came with those. One or two have been modified to accept a scoop on the flat section in the middle. Thing to remember with that is fluid dynamics. You'd think the scoop would have to face forward, when it's better to have it facing the rear.

You're right Alex, def Mk2. I also have one of these cluttering up my garage. I made a flat Ally panel with cutouts for my engine cover rather than stick this ugly type of monstrosity on.

The early MR2 covers will fit, but you have to get the correct model and i think the sides have to have a shave in places.

Not the best pic but this is the MR2 lid.
