All Club Nova Members

Come along and support us at the Stoneleigh Show. This is the first show of 2011 and the Club AGM will take place around 13:00 on Sunday, probably followed by BBQ roast dinner!. We have applied for pitch 54 which is the area we have traditionally had the club stand in recent years.
Set-up from mid Saturday. The position is marked on the map.

See below the information sent by the organisers. Please note the application dates if you are going to send in a camping form.

So to camp we have to pre-book now, what if some one just turns up and wants to camp will they still be able.

I guess that was a question, and one that it would be good to nail down - do we need to book to camp Mick?

Theoretically, yes - you need to book to camp. But in reality I have always forgotten to send my camping form in and still been able to camp. The rules for this year are the same as previous years, but this year I'm ahead of the game enough to get them scanned on the forum for all to see.
As we tend to camp on the stand, rather than in the allocated campsite (which is not strictly following the rules) it doesn't seem to cause a problem. It may just take longer at the gate to pay your money.

Hope that helps.

Thanks to everyone that visited us.

Our show attendance was beset by minor problems, but was saved by brilliant weather (very unusual by recent standards) and turned into an excellent event.

For me the problems started when MicksRedNova overheated and ground to a halt on the M5 hard-shoulder a few miles short of Junction 19. I was able to coax it along the road, followed by Sue and the caravan, to the Gordano Sevices where the AA Relay guys came and ferried me home. Just as I was off-loading the stricken car from the trailer at home I had a call from Alex. His roof pump had failed and although he had got to Stoneleigh he and Liz had to escape through the sunroof! :help: Fortunately, his call meant I was able to grab my old Smiths pump and some hydraulic oil and come to the rescue (see pics of Alex with car in bits elsewhere).

At about the same time as my mini-disaster was happening Rab was having similar over-heating issues when his fan came adrift and stopped cooling his Nova on its way up from Southampton. He was able to coax it home and still made it to Stoneleigh in his tin-top.

When I finally arrived at the show and unpacked the BBQ we discovered that it wasn't burning correctly so the burgers, sausages and jacket potatoes had a very sooty appearance :nonono:

On Sunday, before starting his pump change, Alex gave me a hand to strip and clean the BBQ burners and we finally got it going well enough for Sue to cook the two roast Pork joints for Sunday lunch after the AGM. (Funds for a replacement BBQ were voted through so the old one went in the skip at the end of the show).

Next Kevin (NovaIce) had a roof problem with a seal leaking in the left hand ram, and had to rush down to the stalls and buy a cheap mop to hold the roof up for the show days (see pictures below). And then Jim (JimCub) blew the main fuse for his roof pump and spent a couple of hours under his dash and in the front bonnet replacing it with a trip switch.

Despite all the above we had a jolly good time, mainly thanks to the dry, sunny weather, and although the line-up of four cars was tiny compared to previous years we still had a lot of interest from the public and some new members joining, also Jon managed to get over from France on Monday in time for the final BBQ burger cook-up. So thanks to: Mike & Elaine, Alex & Liz, Kevin and Jim for bring the four Nova's along and to everyone else that attended and helped make it a (mostly) enjoyable weekend.

At least I managed to get a Nova to the show - even though it was the Caravan!

And then it was over for another year. See you at Detling or Newark or Stoneleigh 2012 when we do it all over again. :crossfinger:
