View Full Version : Maybe this should be in Alex's Uglies!!
If this sale completes, then there will be one happy seller, and a not quite as happy buyer. Its already at a lot of money for a "90%" finished Countess - and why is it always 90% finished? My Avante is further finsished than this one and is probably nearer to 70% finished, it'll never be more than 90% finished, thats kit cars!!

Why do these things go for show much money?
A good eagle or Nova will go for similar, but that is a crock of $%!£

I do worry about ebay people sometimes. 13 bids and over 2 grand for a Countess. Do you think they were fooled by the "manufacturer : Lamborghini" description?
If the V5 is from the Toyota donor it could all get very messy. I'd steer well clear of this one :outahere:

Love it or HATE IT, as do I but he IS getting bids and making a LOT more than the equiv' Nova or SS, makes me sick sometimes, well all the time.
I feel that we might see this one "relisted due to time waster" If not, and it sells, then fair play to the seller!

God.... and I thought I paid too much for my car....
Another one to whom the words spelling, punctuation and lower case mean nothing.
oooooo, one of my pet hates (along with music on youtube videos :) ) is how people use the most ridiculously large font in their ebay ads. If I cant read it properly, I lose interest in seconds - it may be due to my slight autism I know.
Maybe in this case it helps, its certanly been bid up high, and suspiciously quickly, 13 bids in the first couple of days of the auction?

That's a good point, it does look suspicious now you mention it, although you never know.
I forgot to mention the HUGE SIZE FONT!!!!! That immediately stops me reading too :coat:
Once o'clock - home time; Yes... ! Well, actually, weekly shopping time....

JemP - I agree. It's interesting that so many people do this. I always place my ebay ads using the standard font and font size, take great photos against white backgrounds (unless the object is white) and keep it short and sweet. I always add 'Private Sale from someone who looks after their things'. Nothing looks more trustworthy than that and my ads are ads that I would buy from. Maybe some people are bored and need some colour in their lives?

Yep, there's nowt wrong with the standard ebay font and size, it makes for a nice clean readable ad.
BTW this Countess is on a spaceframe chassis so the V5 for the donor vehicle is worth diddly-squat, and it'll definitely need SVA.

Well, looking at the bid history, it would seem strange that the first two people set their higher bids so early - but even if it is shill bidding, I wouldn't have thought that it would trick anybody into out-bidding the shill - for that to happen it would need to be something a bit more desireable that that tired heap, surely?
Well the bidding has stalled on this one, after the mad flurry of 13 bids 5 days ago - very strange.
Just had an email from the seller, saying it shouldnt be a problem getting this through SVA :)

Would that be because it would actually have to have an IVA then, I wonder? :whistling:
:) I know - but it does come with a V5 for a Toyota MR2 - anyway it went for £2,500 and if that sale sticks, thats one happy seller :)

Ah, the Romans said it so well - caveat emptor!
