View Full Version : Newark 2011 - 18 / 19 June 2011

It's halfway through the year already and its time for the last big show that Club Nova normally attend. I have had the paperwork through from the organisers and will post it shortly. We are in the same area (roughly) where we have been for the last 2 years (at the far end of MainRoad).

Newark is on 18 / 19 June 2011 (Saturday / Sunday).

If you are intending to be there please respond here, or PM me, or send an email so that I know how many to cater for. If you are planning on staying over (camping) and / or bringing your Nova / Avante etc along then also let me know.

See you all there, although it is unlikely that MicksRedNova will be there for reasons described in my Car thread.

If things work to plan i will be there for at least one of the days. I won't be camping.

Damn! I was hoping to make it to Newark this year. Its looking a bit touch-and-go at the moment, what with being on-call at work and various other niggles (like another iteration of the rear springs to implement). Oh well - here's hoping. It ain't over 'til the fat lady makes an appearance :blushing:

I'll be there. I'll be travelling back from Wales on Friday afternoon so I don't know if I'll be travelling to Newark that evening (Her in doors is not to impressed!!!!!!!) or very early Saturday Morning.

I wont be travelling north for work before Newark so can't help out with collecting the BBQ.

see you all there.

Don't forget that the show is this weekend. I'm due to leave for it soon, and pick up the BBQ from Dan on the way.

Looks like Sunday is going to be the best weather.

See you all there. :whip: :whip:

Well, Newark came and went.

The weather-men lied about Sunday being the best day - there were no best days. The weather was very poor the whole time - wet and windy. Even the 200 worth of Sunshine that got proposed at the AGM was all used up.

Thanks to all those that came to help and to the driver of the lone Nova (well Eureka actually) Martin (Bushboy) for driving up, complete with trailer holding Gazebo and other kit, to join Phil's Haldane for a 2 car show :nonono:

Nice to see Neil from the site (he of electric ambitions) who visited us on Saturday and Dave (Islandman) who came (without car) on Sunday to say hello.

The show in general was a bit small (trader wise) and not packed solid with cars either. Still, we had a good time eating, drinking and dicussing everything Nova.

Phil turned up like Santa Claus (sack of goodies, but no red suit) with bits from his garage that were offered around in exchange for making a contribution to the Club Nova funds. So far donations are 29 for the bits wanted by those present. Martin (Bushboy) has taken the rest with him and will itemise it on the forum initially for Club Nova members (all donations gratefully received) and then will list the left overs on eBay.

Edit: Forgot to mention first time round that Alun Robins also donated 20 to Club funds at the show to help with the 'Windscreen' fund. Thanks Alun.

Thanks to Phil for donating these jolly useful bits for the benefit of Club funds.

Also, thanks to Dan for getting the BBQ, which I picked up from him on the way to Newark on Friday night. The BBQ works very well and is a lot more compact than the old one.

Thanks again to all the helpers for the 3 shows this year. We hope to see more Nova's next year. Don't forget Exeter is still to come later this year and if you find any runs or shows you think would be worth attending post it up on the forum. A few pics of the weekend:

The only Nova? draws a crowd.

Close supervision of the new BBQ.

A fellow Eureka owner gets a BIG surprise when he travels all the way to UK from Oz and finds a Eureka at the show. Bushboy spent hours swapping sheep stories with him!!

'Santa' Phil gets his bits out - the part in his hand looked like the overhead light from a passenger plane!! some people will pinch anything

Those that remember the bandstand days at Newark will be interested to see that the photo-shoot has followed Club Nova to our new pitch too. Here 'Miss Newark' tries to work out why this orange shiny thing has some black bits stuck under it

Finally its time to go and the neww BBQ folds down.
