I just don't know about this

It could go in Alex's Uglies, or even Alex's Beauties - I really just don't know!!

Its got quite a good "future buggy" look to it - not really a beauty to behold, but certainly purposeful. Additional box tube framework helps to brace the original Beetle floorpan, which appears to be full length, but I suspect the subtext here is that there is no V5, and the new owner will have to run the gauntlet of the IVA.

The seller refers to it as a kit car, but it seems to be a one-off. Lets hope the original designer had a copy of the C&U regs handy, or this could end in tears :(

But I do quite like it, in a Peugeot Proxima kind of way :D

Reminds me a lot of the Lexus concept car used in the Minority Report. He's gone to a heap of effort with the body, shame he didn't go for a custom chassis.

...Which I think in turn was based on the Promixa from 1986.

I bought a VHS of Minority Report in a bargain bin for £2.50 many years ago now. Only watched it once; it was based on a Philip K Dick short story so naturally I was expecting something as visually stunning as Blade Runner (although that is only very loosely based on DADOES). I will have to give it another viewing, perhaps I was being overly critical...

I agree, all that work only to build it on a 'kipper' is daft. One can certainly see where the insperation came from. Hate the seats, so wrong. Anyway, he didn't sell it, wonder why, could it be the over £1,600 reserve price?

Never seen or heard of the Proxima, but I see what you mean.

I have Minority Report on dvd. I too like Phillip K Dick, that was one reason I went to see it at the movies. I think Minority Report is a pretty good movie, and while different to the styling of Blade Runner, I think it's still visually stunning.

As an aside, they plan to do a reboot/remake of Blade Runner. Leave the classics alone!

I couldn't agree more - although if it followed the novel more closely then it would have a very different feel anyway. But I can't see any modern film doing justice to its original inspiration. Lucas has hacked his original Star Wars trilogy to death with silly CGI, claiming that was what he had visualised all along, and the jetcar scene in THX1138 has suffered so badly I had to get a secondhand version on VHS in order to fully appreciate the bleakness of the original.

But Hollywood continues to re-heat original ideas, and the punters still cough up good money to watch them.

PS - the Peugeot Quasar was always my favourite of the three French concepts, although I liked the interior of the Proxima (another Paul Bracq triumph). The final Oxia was easily the most practical, but also the most boring as a result - the interior in particular. Perhaps Paul Bracq had left by then?
