View Full Version : Beetle front axle beam

hi all,

I know it isn't maybe the most logical place to ask but am after a balljoint front axle beam for a beetle - 1967 onwards.

Just wondered if anyone who has gone spaceframe, or Red 9 has one lying about, or perhaps a spare that is gathering dust?

Need to get the buggy project moving and my axle is looking like Swiss cheese after I took a wire brush to it

You could just buy a new one at 196, Simple conversion to RHD unless you are going R&P, I know it cost a bit but then that's it for the next 40 years.

Thanks for the link Peter - VW Heritage are just up the road from me, so well aware of them, and new axle prices.

To be honest, aside from the hassle of converting to RHS the quality of new ones is not great. The steel thickness is reduced, and I can lift one with ease- a big difference to Wolfsburg's finest. The axle on my other buggy is a '55 original, and still rot free.

Will keep looking...........
