Always a great show, slightly dampened this year due to the weather, but this did not prevent a stellar turnout of Italian exotica, and even provided some entertainment in the form of an over-enthusiastic Countach driver who managed to put his car in the kitty litter!

OK, here we go...

I love this Fiat Abarth. Its quick too; this thing flew past me on the A43 a couple of years back!

Lamborghini Jarama S has also just emerged from a lengthy restoration. Nice colour :D

Rareity of course has no equal to the Lamborghini Silhouette parked next door – just 52 examples were bolted together in 1978.

Jane Wietzmann kept her promise and turned up in the “Twiggy” Miura S, in spite of the poor weather. The ultimate jet-set car, parked under its iconic aeronautical equivalent!

This Flemish 512BB looked a bit different, so I took a picture. Then it appeared yesterday at the Stoneleigh kit car show. The penny dropped s-l-o-w-l-y...

I came across this Fiat 133 Abarth “visualisation” at the recent Goodwood LMC track day. Brooding Alfa SZ gives it the eye in the background.

7-litre Can-Am engined Iso Grifo is a regular appearance at Brookie. The driver informed me that because of its spectacular 9mpg thirst, this will be its only show appearance this year...

Lancia Gamma is always interesting, but the dark blue paint and murky conditions make it difficult to appreciate the smooth Pininfarina styling.

Its a Maserati Bora of course. The significance of the singular Lancia baby elephant on the tail panel is unclear however.

Metallic lime green Aventador, one of quite a few present (I lost count, if truth be told).

Meanwhile, back in the Alfa car park, Green Cloverleaf Pat and his brother had arrived in this fantastic wide-arched Sud Ti. 16v boxer with open ram pipes sounded superb. In the damp conditions you could see clouds forming above the intake stacks!

Mildly customised Iso Rivolta GT has a Chevy smallblock “bored out to 454 cubic inches” - that's 7.5 litres – and provided some of the most entertaining runs on the test hill.

Beautiful Fissore penned Montiverdi “High Speed” 375L is another Brookie favourite. Chrysler 383 with a Torqueflite automatic, combined with wishbones and a De Dion back end made this the perfect tool for blatting across Northern Europe in the early 1970s.

And finally...

Thanks Lauren. A lot of effort went into posting all those photos. I feel like I went to the show!

I'll have the De Tomaso Mangusta please.

Hi Giles - you'll need to join the queue :D

I checked out the Supercar Sunday coverage on Pistonheads, there were quite a few cars there I recognised from Brooklands. Obviously decided to make a (wet) weekend of it! Next big Auto Italia event is the concours at Stanford Hall. While I was talking to one of the other AROC members a pro photographer was taking pictures of the Green Machine, followed by a mature gent who was trying to figure out what the car was, checking the tax disc etc. It turns out he is the curator of the museum and wanted to use the photographs for publicity purposes! No problem says I, it would be ironic if Auto Italia next year is publicised using pictures of the Green Machine, a car AI originally tried to ban from the event!
