I've replaced the Alfa Romeo thermo switch that turns the fans on. It is screwed into the radiator. The old one was leaking probably because the ally washer was corroded. I thought I may as well get a new one.

I don't know why I think this but should the thread be given a light coating of grease before screwing on? I thought this may help to seal it from leaking. Maybe not.

Cheers,
Giles

Grease isn't really the thing. If you are worried about leaks, PTFE tape will do the trick!

Thanks Lauren. I'll try a bit of the tape. Last used when fitting my shower thermostat.

Not that you need telling but wrap the tape in the direction of turn.

I didn't need telling but hopefully that will teach a few reading this. Good advice!
