Hello all,
Since Stoneleigh the nova has been running without the foam inserts under the scoops that cover the carbs, I have tried refitting them a couple of times however the car runs rough when I do.

Obviously this isn't ideal for obvious reasons and also that after every drive I have to wrap carrier bags around the carbs to stop them filling with water.

So, bearing in mind my carbs are Kadron/Solex H40/44EIS carbs, what options do I have for air filters?
Key qualities I am looking for:
- Wont ingest rain water to a point of killing the engine
- Cost isn't extraordinarily high
- Won't look out of place on the Nova, I'm sure you all know how it looks already.

I've had a couple of suggestions from some members already but I'm looking to pool everything together to see what options are available.

I have searched the net many times and would love scoops like Steve had fitted to it before however the cost of these make them out of my reach at the moment, looking at around 3-400 pounds for those ones!

Thanks all!

Put the foam back in and adjust the carbs.
You will need to lean the mixture or turn the screw in a quarter at a time and see when it runs clean.
Taking the foam out is letting more air in and this is weakening the fuel mixture, adjusting carb will do the same job.

Not the best starting point, those carbs are popular because they are cheap and they are cheap because.... As yours are open to the elements which makes them rather unique in Nova/SS terms, I would be looking at a decent 3" high wire mesh filter (K&N, Piper) , oiled and a cover. The cover doesn't have to be fancy, just some kind of inverted canister screwed onto the filter tops, (painted white) that will fit over the filters and top 1/2" of the carbs but allow air up into the filters.

Not saying to buy from them but these guys know a thing or three.

If you can, or know a man who can, make some nice fiber glass ones. You could even repair the nice scoops you have as a top and extend a skirt from underneath around the cards to stop water getting up and in,:confused1: Main thing is air in, not water .

I'm using one of these http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/remote-carbon-fibre-canister-air-filter

I've got about half a metre of flexi hose. Which you can see under the photo on the CBS site. It comes as a complete kit.

Cheers.
