Hi Steve maybe if you make a grove/channel through the tube into the rod inside and use a pinch clamp with the bolt securing the components together very much like the way u/j's clamp onto the flat...

Hi Lauren I don't think there's many gel coat ADD's about now, only painted mine after someone reversed into the front and it had the dark green blotches starting to appear in the gel coat
I've been impressed with mine I brought it to solder smc's on circuit boards but use it for so many other jobs as the heat output it controllable , the small nozzles are particularly useful...
