It’s a common repair for sure. My jig wasn’t quite as sophisticated as Dirk’s but we measured many times and the car is still doing the rounds and goes in a straight line!

I actually had pop it vents on the first Nova (Ces & Rose/Nena) - fitted into Perspex side panels cut by Plastics 4 Performance and fitted by a local windscreen chap.
I used the same style vents...
Exactly my thoughts/interpretation when I read your suggestion David, which is why it appealed.
Day job, snow and general life stuff has stopped play in the garage presently, but will report back...
The sand bag idea is a great one David - thank you. Always a few of those floating around.
I have discovered a small weep on one hose at the pump end so I do wonder if air was entering the system...
Sadly ‘temporarily sticking the canopy on’ isn’t straightforward. The canopy is residing in the back garden under a canopy, needs carrying by two (rally in the neighbour) sideways through a narrow...
Everything is finger tight and not tightened up yet………
It is a Sparco quick release one. It was on the car when I bought it from Carl, I think Jim put it on but the hub arrangement to convert to the wheel he had is somewhat ‘fredcano’.
From the brief...
Yes, I have experienced the same on prior Novas, and with those always found I could press one side down and see the other lift - this feels ‘tighter’ and very stiff with the passenger side not...
Hi all,
With the Nova now road legal I hoped to get the roof fitted across the Xmas break.
Didn’t achieve as much garage time as I hoped but the loom has been made and tested, and the remote...
I’m sure a future owner will enjoy that task…….
I agree they are not pretty, but having adjusted them and strengthened them (most were on short rusty self tappers stressing the gel coat) they do now work really well. Briefly lost reverse lights...
They are crude but effective! An old pair of towing mirrors adapted to fit onto the canopy hinge bases whilst the roof is off, as the actual wing mirrors are of course on the canopy.
The MOT...
Hi all,
I may warm up at some point - Worthing was forecast for an hour of snow this morning - it never made it, sleet at best and icy rain, and temperatures never rose above 5 degrees all day.
...
Interesting comparing this picture to the one with the primer sanded through to yellow. Does seem to correlate.
As said on earlier posts true osmosis would be very evident once sanded down, I think...
That sill picture is almost identical to the sills on my first Nova (Nena). We ground loads out and lots of fibreglass work, but not enough and you can see it breaking through on the car now.
well spotted!
The garage crocs sure take a lot of abuse!
Hi all,
Not to the quality we are used to with Steve’s video updates, but I thought you may all enjoy a sneak preview (ahead of what is hitting pages in a Complete Kit Car currently) and see where...
Yep, we used to have good numbers on display

The first Newark outing for sure, debut was Detling 2008.
I don’t recall seeing that picture before Mick - good to see us both and the car, thanks for posting.
And a few more from today.
The Westfield 356 replica is apparently an earlier shell/build for a customer under the Chesil name and urgent build quality is superior. Needs to be with modules for a...
Hi all,
A late arrival for Martha and I, not leaving Worthing till 10.30am. Left in sunshine, arrived to rain/drizzle!
More manufacturers in the hall than last year but club areas pretty thin...
The Scooby Nova followed a similar route to that I have just done on Jim’s old Nova.
No soundproofing panels on the side tubs, but all of the pans and tunnel covered. Both installs were covered in...
Thanks to Dirk for the pics - one did make it into the Aug issue of Complete Kit Car. And my usual Nova build ‘Our Cars’ features, plus a reflection on a certain show winning Nova in the mag 15 years...
yes, but with the absence of many shows where you can touch and feel samples would prefer to find something someone else has used. Some of that size are very stiff and struggle to turn corners
Interesting approach, thanks. Surface is fairly irregular in parts so something held in place by the joint will probably be more secure. But could be an option for the removable rear bumper
