One less task to worry about, until the next time that is. The SEAT Ibiza passed it's ITV, new CAT' did the job of reducing CO2 from .52 to .02 so good until next August (renewal is from date test was due not when passed.

Just need to get to the shed now as new lock down stops me going past Estepona's borders just 5Km up the road.

Frustrating about the travel ban, but stay safe and look forward to the roll out of vaccines over the next few months. UK's meant to be starting before Xmas, but I don't know about Spain. It'll take a while to roll out but at least we've finally turned a corner. Just make plans for what you want to do once you get back to the shed.

BTW I saw Estepona on one of the 'Place in the Sun' programmes the other night ... looks like a great place to stay, with much better winter weather than the UK. Can you tell I'm jealous?

It is very frustrating not being able to get to the shed but even more is having to pay 140€ a month for the privilege. Nearly as frustrating as receiving the Skoda gear shift repair kit that was supposed to be for the 1990 Estelle/Rapid only to find it was not and has to go back and will probably cost as much in post as the part cost. Still can't find the parts I need so will have to make the 20mm ball myself.

You are right to be jealous Alister, the weather here is great and the main reason I moved here in September 1999, Today is typical November, sunny, 18degrees with some cloud, light breeze.
We have breakfast on our South facing patio every morning apart about four when it really is bad, like high wind and lashing rain, but like I said, only about 4 days a year we eat inside. When it rains it really rains and floods are not uncommon because although it happens every year they don't do much about it and seeing cars floating off down the high street in some places is really strange.

Not long to go although the Andalusian government is looking at a TOTAL LOCKDOWN for two weeks so they can get the virus under control for Christmas, of course with bigger gatherings over the holidays which last until January 6th here for the 3 kings, comes bigger infection rates so January is going to be horrible..

Daily drive, the BMW E30 passed the ITV for another year just an advisory left front fog not working and brake balance on front and rear a bit heavy on the left, but apart from needing a new connector for the washer pump which he let me off , all good.

Now I can concentrate on the SS. Hope to get her running this year, as soon as they let me drive trough Marbella.

Having the other SS in Malaga, albeit in Nerja, gives me a renewed enthusiasm to get on with it.

This is getting so frustrating! Another 5 days to go until they lift the restricted travel rules (but maybe an extension to come).

Trying to figure out if going to work on ones own car is classified as "essential"? Of course I think so but not so sure the police would.

Been a busy couple of days in the 'shed' as travel restrictions are eased, (I am no Dom'), the gearchange was a sloppy mess and whilst it was out a serious amount of work was needed before it went back in, also the starter just clonked so a new one has been fitted.

This darn Corvid thing is really dragging on. Wife had THREE tests last week during tests for high blood pressure, so I guess I am clear too.
Just as they relaxed the movement controls Christmas comes along and they take that very seriously here and again for three kings on January 6th. but I will be in the 'shed' on Monday.

Recouple gearshift and bolt shifter in.

Finish fitting starter motor, just the top nut to tighten and remote start button to sort out as the old motor had two spade male connectors, new one only a single.

Reassemble the armrest but I need to figure out how I can make the chassis number easy to see or there will be trouble at the inspection and subsequent ITVs. Then a little modification on the centre consul to fit a 3v double AA battery box to power the remote that sends to the door relays as the button 2032 battery dies all too soon..

I have a whole bunch of small 12v LEDs in chrome mounts so wondering if to fit above switches to indicate lights on, fans on, fogs on, I only really need on the fan switch as the fog and lights have Speedo indicators. Hmmm, thinking.

Underlay on right floor and then the alloy checker plate and seat in, at last.

Still lots to do but all small stuff now but time is the enemy.

Well, Monday in the 'shed' has become Tuesday as I have a job to do Monday, seems Myself and James are the only two qualified CFMoto mechanics on the coast and James in on holiday for two weeks which either I come out of retirement, again at 75 or the Marbella Buggys fleet is down a couple.

"Just a throttle cable" he said, remove complete undertray, engine cover and front boot, crawl underneath and cut 10 zip ties to remove old one before threading new one along rest of cables and pipes and new zip ties then reassemble, It was then that I remembered one connects the front first then the throttle body as it is a pig to do the other way around. 3 hours.

Next was a CVT drive belt, 4 hours as the belt had exploded and wrapped itself around the cush drive spring, only 6600Km so strange, but after 7 hours none-stop, jobs done, just as the 16:00 two hour tour arrived back with another CVT belt problem, on the other new one, so on Monday back to do that, so the 'shed' is put back to Tuesday now. Just smile and think of the money as I soak in a hot Radox bath to relieve my aching muscles-

Having a pig of a job recoupling the shaft, first I bolted it onto the shifter upside down so the screw as underneath, no wonder I couldn't get it in. Then I dropped the darn thing into the tunnel a few times so getting stressed and the air was getting very blue so I went home. But, getting a lot done at last.

So it just shows you are human like the rest of us who make mistakes......Hopefully you were billing by the hour and not fixed price for the job .
