Sorry to hear about your frying. Commiserations, it seemed a pretty sound idea. It's not my field, but I reckon I would have done pretty much the same as you.

Do you think it was faulty? I don't see why the 3 amp supply would be a problem, unless there was a short somewhere.

Yeah, I kinda suspect the LCD wasn't 100% when I got it, but it's impossible to prove that NOW. Basically, it NEVER displayed a color image at any wattage input and it always had 3 horizontal lines running thru the bottom of the screen...so that's why i question whether I truly destroyed it or if it was already on it's last leg and I simply gave it the push it needed to die.

So, now I'm looking at these really neat 3" H x 12" W LCD displays...that would be REAL easy to see!

    Example:

Now that is cool looking. 3x6" would make for an actually useful rear view mirror. Something like this.

When I was looking for a screen I saw proper rear view mirrors that were screens, just like the interior mirror we all use on our normal cars.
I don't have a link but they were from China via the UK ebay site so wouldn't be difficult to search for if you want to.

That's kind of what Pog's link shows...but in a clip-on format. Since I have no use for an interior mirror (I don't have a rear window and I ain't that pretty to look at ), I like that HUGE LCD better...but that price is pretty steep. I actually found a slightly better deal too, TWO of those 12" wide LCDs for about $250...keep one, sell one or have a backup. I'd need to transfer some $$ into PayPal first (and have my head checked for spending $250 online with a China company!). Of course, I might also have to buy a new camera too...haven't had time to check if I fried mine for sure or not. (I'll check tomorrow night. Tonight I have my Concealed Carry Permit renewal class... )
