Cheap 4" LCD screens for reversing cameras

Just a tip. I killed my 4" monitor with neglect by leaving it lying about for two years and when I installed it and turned it on it came on, 2,3, and died, seeerwit, phut!. After looking on Ebay etc, and seeing the price of a replacement (if you can find a 4" these days) I found a Playstation 2 add on with a 4" monitor for £17. inc post, it has all the requirements I need such as 12v, PAL AV input, etc so I bought one and cannibalised it, (chucked the case away in other words, the only bit you need for rear fitting is the central bit.). so for a cheap 4" LCD take a look at them.

    Goofed, again.
Stripped the PS2 unit down only to find the so called AV input wasn't and i needed an AV (yellow composite rca) to RGB converter which costs more than the monitor, so I'll chalk that one down to being hasty and buy a bare bones one with PAL input from Germany and keep the LCD as a spare screen.

Sorry to hear that Peter. Still, on the bright side, it didn't cost you too much to find out.

My telecam monitor has a jack labeled "AV Out", but I have no idea what type of output it is. Its on a 3.5 mm audio jack, certainly not what you would expect to see today!

The 4" monitor I found in the USA and therefor usa standard NTSC is being sold on German Ebay in PAL mode so one on the way, just needs a 40 Ohm resistor on the +12v line for car use (13.8v) and change the BNC connector for a RCA one. Lets just hope it gets here, post has been a bit wierd lately with stuff disapearing at Madrid airport dispite being tracked and no one knows where it went.
