    What do you think?

    Me? Indecisive?

    Well yes and no.

I was going to get a car and build a new spaceframe and put a bigger engine but then I thought "it would be a shame to alter what is now a classic car". So now I'm looking for a "standard" Nova but I thought in future I might make something with more up to date styling that shares some of the Nova's unique features.

    So I drew this

Looks good, Chris. Has a lot of Ferrari 430 in it, though....which leads us back to the thread some time ago 'what makes a Nova a Nova?'

Yeah I like that Chris. A modern take on the Nova profile. How would you engineer the opening roof?

    Re: What do you think?

Yes the inspiration was the Ferrari 430, it's my favourite modern car. I'm going to lower it slightly and make the front a bit "pointyier" (I know that's not a real word but the thesaurus came up empty!) I think I might make the canopy a little deeper into the sides too.

I haven't really got into details yet but I think the canopy would work in the same way as the Nova or possibly rear hinged with hydraulic rams pushing down behind the canopy in a sort of see-saw fashion and electro-mechanical catches.

Thanks for the link to that thread, some good ideas there, I particularly like Italo's renderings, I hadn't made the connection with Complete kit car, but reading the mag today I have to say that his drawings for the GT40 update are magnificent!

chris this is a nice illustration, though I do see the ferrari lines.
I have done all manner of digital paintings converting most modern cars to the nova ish form.
I've never found something i like as much as the original lines with very mild tweaks...

you can see my scribbles here:
