Just noticed the rack and pinion, what steering rack is that you used?
I have had the car since June 2012 - but didn't start on it for about 12 months. I did around 3 years work and got it drivable. We then moved house and it stood for 7 years before I started on it again. I was busy renovating and then we got flooded amongst other things happening. So all in about 4.5 - 5 years work on days off and weekends.Originally Posted by steve
The wing mirrors are from a Daihatsu, possibly a Copen? I bought them a few years back and can't remember exactly, and the reciept just says 'Wing Mirrors'. I can remember taking a long time finding pretty much what I had in mind. Most are mounted in a plastic triangle at the corner of the windows nowadays, so finding body mounted ones that suited was quite time consuming.
They are electric and wired up through a GM switch from some old Vauxhall.
Headlights are Metro units. I think the one in at the moment are from an MG Metro as the indicators are clear lenses. I have two other sets with orange lenses which I may use in the future as they are a more retro style.

Hi - The rack an pinion was already on the car when I purchased it. It has 'Ford' cast on it, so I'm guessing that it is from an Escort or Fiesta possibly 1980's. But it has the VW tie rod ends graffed on very well.
The steering is still fairly heavy at low speed as there's no power assist, and if it hits any bumps it tends to skip around a little, but that maybe due to the fact I still have to mount a damper somewhere.

Glad to see you finally had some time to get your Nova on the road. Pics look great, I look forward to seeing it in 2020.
After mine got written off I don't seem to have the same enthusiasm/energy to build it again, but its coming along. When I'm back from Spain (extended holiday) I'm ready to fire up the engine and electrics for the first time since stripping parts from an MGTF.
With Ray, Gary, me and you all within a few miles of each other we must have the highest concentration of Novas in the country

Hope you are all safe and well. I've been working hard from home to keep you all connected the best I can.
[I work for a team within Openreach remotely fault fixing the fibre network across the UK]
Whilst I don't have to drive 40mins to 1hr everyday to get to Bristol now, I have had so spare time to tackle lots of jobs around the house, but also decided to get on with repairing my very tired old louvre panel. Here's some pictures of the job, they are still not perfect, but I'm only a competent amateur.

Great result - well done.
I really like the louvre panel on the Nova, but mine has suffered the dreaded droop of the slats which I think is a common issue. A previous owner tried to fix it by filling them out using cataloy. The result is I have a very heavy panel that doesn't look too bad on the outside but is a bit of a mess on the inside.

I'm interested in the shiny studs down the centre in the last couple of photos. I think I can see a black strip under the centre of the louvre in the 2nd last photo ... presumably some spacers to prevent droop/vibration in the middle of the louvres? I'd be interested to see more details underneath.
