It's not Phils wrap around effect- I did it on my Nova a year ago
(I just don't have any photographic evidence)

It's not mine either - I pinched the idea after seeing a video https://www.facebook.com/mark.knowle...group_activity

Quick update on where I am now with the Nova.

The engine is now running sweet with no hint of any missfire now. I changed the coil back in the summer and think that's got a lot to do with it.

The generator is still not working but Mick sent me a replacement which I have still to install. Trouble is the engine needs to come out to do it (though it probably can be done in situ - it's probably easier with the engine out). Consequently, because I'm still not driving the car very far (and using it even less now that it's winter) I've not got around to changing it yet. But I still get a big thrill everytime I get a chance to drive the car even if it is just a few miles up the road each time.

Since putting the car on the road it's clocked up just under 1,000 miles, but as many of you will be aware it did have a few issues back in the summer. Looking forward to next spring when I can get more time to take the car out again.

Keep on Nova'ing - with peace and love, peace and love

I've replaced the alternator twice through the engine hatch now - it's not much of a fiddle....
It's a 52 year old car and everything works, just not always at the same time.......and it's probably about to get jealous!

Don't you need to lift the cooling shroud to do it?

Not if you remove the fan nut and leave the fan in place (it can'2 drop out of reach)....the wooduff key stays in the shaft and it all slides out. If you can't undo the nut THEN you have to think about dropping the engine!

Although I have loads of room by comparison but do have a firewall, I find it easy to take the Alternator/shroud and fan off in one piece, as long as you can get to the 4 shroud to cylinder cover screws at the front (gearbox side) the rest, end and rear screws are easy, remove dynamo strap, disconnect HT and lift out.
