Took the drum off today. The hub nut wasn't too bad, I loosened it before I jacked up the car with the wheel on the ground and handbrake full on. In fact if anything the nut was probably not as tight as it should have been so perhaps that was what was causing the noise on cornering? There was also a lot of dust from the brake linings so I cleaned it all out and re-adjusted the brake after re-assembly. However, because it was so wet today I declined to take it out for a lengthy test drive and instead drove it around the car park in circles. There was no noise coming from the wheel so hopefully it wasn't the bearing after all. But I need to take it out for a proper long test drive before I will know for sure. However there was no sign of any play in the bearing when I tried rocking the wheel so I'm hopefull the noise is cured.

Took the Nova for a run this afternoon and again this evening. First time I've really driven the car in the dark. I ended up using full beam a lot as low beam wasn't producing much light and I felt that even with the high beam on it wasn't glaring other driver's (at least none of them flashed at me) and when I stood outside the car and filmed it with the full beams on it didn't seem too bright and likely to glare oncoming drivers. I had to drive it with the sunroof out as the car has a tendency to mist up inside in the cool night air and removing the sunroof helps the airflow keep the screen clear.

    Some video from this evening:-

Nice Vids; What headlights are you using?

A few years ago on Wheeler Dealers they did a comparison of aftermarket headlight bulbs vs OEM bulbs,
the OEM's (forget the brand) came out a lot better.
They were 3x the price of course, but worth it for headlights IMO.

Hi Phill, Has your cornering noise gone away?
I saw that you tightened the main Stub axle bolt (the 36mm one)

I recently torqued down my main stub axle bolts, the correct setting is something mad like >220 Ft/Lbs,
My torque wrench doesn't go up that high, so it needed a DIY calculation. Is the setting that critical?

The poor headlight performance under the perspex covers is one of the main reasons I went for pop-up lights on my blue Nova. It use to scare me to death driving at night. I'm not totally sure if I will do pop-ups on the new one yet, sa I plan to put the radiators in the sides the same as Mark did.

Yes it's gone now - still don't know if it was brake shoes rubbing, or something to do with the tightening of the 36mm nut. I simply applied as much force as I could muster when I re-tightened it. Not sure how critical the setting is or why it's so high?

I think they're Ford Capri though not 100% sure as they were on the car when I bought it

If you weight about 200Lbs like me and stand on a one foot long bar that's 200FtLbs.
