Had a pleasant evening meeting up with Alistair. We chatted all things Nova and took the car out for a run around the Industrial estate.

I had never seen my car driven before (apart from on video) so it was good to see the car being driven by someone else.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself tonight Phill. You gave me the motivation to keep welding!! We both agreed that this Forum is so helpful for technical and moral support. Thanks Dan for setting it up .... and please find a way to keep your Nova!

To those of you we only know in digital form, hopefully we'll meet in person before too long. There's nothing to beat being face to face like we enjoyed tonight. (PS .. we both left 'Nova Widows' at home!)

I was really humbled to be the first person other than Phill to drive his Nova. I've not driven my Nova since 1991 so it brought back lots of memories for me and gave me the kick up the backside to keep going with my body off restoration.

Phill mentioned to me that I drove his Nova quite slowly .... OK, so I might be the 'Captain Slow' of Euro Nova, but he's the 'Jeremy Clarkson' as he sped back to his unit in the industrial estate!

    Nice Vids, thanks.
Hmm I think I would take things easy if I was driving someone else's car ;-)
I like the look of the Dash Phill, good work.

Did you try out any of those buttons/switches when you had a drive Alastair?
    Do any of them work?

    Hi Steve,

Just to be clear, when I was driving I went really slowly ... Phill was driving in the video that shows the Nova heading back into the Unit

I was so focused on driving a Nova for the first time in 27 years that I only used 2 buttons ... the roof and the starter (and they both work fine!).

    Cheers, Alistair

The ignition switch, roof switch, and starter switch are the only ones that are currently working...sort of...

I say sort of because when the two of us returned from a lengthier drive the roof switch failed....and I had to climb out of the sunroof otherwise the two of us would still be sitting in the car now (are you listening Mark?)

Oh well..the joys of temporary wiring

    Hi Mark,

I know this subject has been debated a lot in the past, but what if you were in an accident which severed the 'proper' wiring, or hydraulics? What if the accident started a fire and you had to get out quickly? Kit cars are not immune to being hit by idiots on the road and Phill, Mick and Dirk are testament to that.

Why not install a solid removable section in your roof to keep its appearance and give you a potentially lifesaving means of escape? Maybe something like the one that Alex is working on which looks really cool?

    Cheers, Alistair
