I need to check the build manuals - I'm sure there's a pedal modification I can do to make the pedal more upright - something Mick mentioned a while back. Mind you, I never did this modification on my last Nova and never had a problem with the accelarator

I chopped and re-welded the brake/ clutch pedals as specified in the manual but also found I didn't like the hinged accelerator thing so chopped that off and welded a curved plate to the pedal where the roller thing sits. Picture on Page5 of my build site below.

That looks a lot better.
I didn't like the 'piano' pedal either so after three, or was it four, goes at a better one I went for a skateboard wheel, smooth, realy smooth.

And guess what?, I'm changing the pedals, again.

Moving the roller to the left 1" and making a forward curving arm so it would clear an adjusting cable on the brake bias so I can fit a cable opperated adjuster. Then put a dog leg into the clutch pedal and move that 1" to the left so my size 10 boots don't foul ajacent pedals as they do now.

Nice work with the brake pipes, but is that the gear linkage shaft I see sitting on the floor pan?

I also spied that the gearbox & engine are in place. Been quite a while since I last installed a gear linkage shaft, but don't they install from the rear?

Yes the gear linkage shaft is fitted through a front opening in the frame head. The reason it's out is because I discovered last year that it is missaligned. i.e the cup at one end should be at 90 degrees to the link at the other - but when the rod was shortened it was welded up with this critical alignment out by 10-20 degrees which prevents me from selecting all 4 forward gears. I just haven't got around to rectifying it yet.

Got a bit more work done today - renewed the rear brakes cylinders and shoes, cleaned up and painted the drums so that's the braking system now complete

Also made a start on fixing the gear linkage shaft. Cut through it at the point where it was previously brazed and made up a metal sleeve to slide into the shaft and hold it in alignment when re-brazing the shaft together

Somewhat different to mine which looks like a banana and a foot shorter with a 8mm hole in the front and no ball.
This is so it slides in through the hole for the gear shift, where the handbrake used to be, and bolts to the Skoda shifter at the front. takes all sort don't it?.

Finally got around to one of those jobs that I have been meaning to finish off for ages. Found a diagram on the internet that shows the dimensions and placement for the pedal cross brace that strengthens the floor under the pedal assembly. I bought a 300mm length of 60mm x 5mm mild steel and cut it to shape then bolted it into position. Whiule I was at it I also fitted the accelerator return spring so the pedal now sits upright in it's relaxed position
