    Andrew's Black Mk1

Recently on ebay, now residing near marlow
    $_57.jpg $_65.jpg

    Cracked windscreen
    20141023_143305.jpg
but luckily a spare windscreen was included in the sale (never used and still with stickers on)

It's got every switch & dial you could ever need and more, just like a trip to Halfords in the 80's and someone getting in one of everything! I love it.

    Also got this
    2014-10-31 12.47.07.jpg
and a wiring instruction leaflet, so hopefully it works

Found the Nova build plate inside the car.
    Model No. 6980 dated 9/9/80

Brakes don't work, foot peddle moves but does nothing.
Hand brake sort of works, it adds resistance but doesn't hold the car.
    Clutch & gearbox seem fine.

Tyres all either have slow leaks or need re-seating, but they all hold air for days/weeks at a time.

    More to follow.....

That trip computer must have cost a few quid back then.

    Hi Andrew

Good to see a Nova off of eBay has been snapped up by someone on here. Is this your first Nova?

It looks like you have feel on your feet with the new screen "Bonus".

With all of those switches are you sure it didn't belong to a mobile switch sales man? But thats one of the great things about people putting their own stamp on it.

    What are your plans?
What every you do enjoy & have fun

    Cheers.

Hi Andrew - that computer is sooo cool!

Factory build plate is also a good find. In spite of the general neglect, I think you have bagged yourself a bargain!

Well done, and welcome to the forum

Welcome to Nova ownership. You've started at the right place by joining the forum. Do you have a schedule for getting it on the road? It would be great to have another 'new' car join Club Nova at Stoneleigh (or carfest) in 2015.

Hi Andrew, Nice Pics and Good luck with the build.

I reckon the dash wiring would be pretty complex looking at that interior pic
The row of buttons and clock on the passengers dash-pod triggered a memory,
they are from an early '70s XJ6 (or Daimler Sovereign).
The XJ6 was known a great source sound-proofing felt by kit builders back in the day,
the twin fuel caps on the rear wings are XJ6 also, does the car have twin fuel tanks?

Interesting to hear body number is 6980, I'm thinking that means the 69th car of 1980,
can anybody confirm that this is how the Elams numbered their bodies?

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case - typical Lot Date Code (LDC) nomenclature.

Hopefully being an aftermarket accessory the Sparkrite computer will have its own speed sensors - but how does it measure fuel flow?

My God! The switches, man... the switches. I've never seen so many switches and gauges in a vehicle that isn't a large truck.

I think it's got switches to turn on switches.
    Thanks,

    Nic.

You got to wonder though, how many are actually wired up? I wouldn't be surprised if someone just stuck as much switchgear into the cabin space as humanly possible. You know, to make the inside look like a fighter craft, just like the outside. lol

According to the wiring instructions, it has it's own fuel flow sensor. The speed sensors are 4 magnets attached to an axel. Going to investigate at the weekend and see if they are still there.
