If you guys are planning on converting the Scooby gearbox yourself, there's a guy in the US for his Sterling who's just done a post on doing the conversion himself, with some photos and step by step advice. You still need to have the info from SubiGears, but the additional info is good.

In all seriousness, I did consider the 3L Flat six - there are certainly plenty about, but I thought the packaging might be a little tight.
They do make a 3.6L six too
