Well, some good news and some bad news.....First the good news.
Nice sunny day in Yorkshire today, managed some garage time at last, and decided to dismantle the engine.
Removal of ancillaries went well, as did removal of cylinder head.
Then came the bad news
One cylinder was almost full with Rusty water!
Although after a clean, the cylinders look slightly better, the pitting due to corrosion is all too clear...
The valves have also suffered..
And again, although not as bad following a brief clean, corrosion of the valves is still evident
So, plan going forward is certainly a rebore/oversize pistons, and probably new valves. I'm hoping that the remainder of the cylinder head (valve guides and, in particular, camshafts) are ok.
