Looking very neat Steve!![]()
We all love an angle grinder to solve a problem its solved lots of issues for meLooking good.
Dirk
Very neat solution, I've got that bracket and rack sitting in a cupboard as an option to redo my Alfa Nova's rack so very interested in your solution
Quick update; I had the handbrake Tabs welded on and the handle black-zinc coated, I prefer this low-profle look.
I'm now looking for a suitable plasic handle (grip)...?
The protective coating on the brake rotors had worn off and I was seeing some light surface rusting, I cleaned with jenolite + wire wool and then painted with VHT caliper paint.
… then popped them in the oven for 1hr @93 degrees Centigrade... that is what it said on the tin and it seems to have hardened the paint.

During the dry build it became apparant that the bushes between the Scooby Gearbox and the Subarugears crossmember had been cut down by a previous owner;
The correct bush is from a Holden Commodore, but I don't believe that the after-market Holden bushes fit properly (which is why the previous owner cut them down).
Anyway I found an alternative Landrover bush that is superior IMO.
Today the Crossmember, which had to be RE-powdercoated because of a dry-fit issue (fixed with an angle grinder) came together with the new bushes for the first time, some adjustment was required to reduce the height of the inner section of a bush (one on each side) see the pic, but the adjusted bushes 'clamp' together nicely above and below the Crossmember.
Sorry it's upside down - I don't know why :-(

to see it rendered properly.
