Yes mate, I'm pretty sure you'll have 3D printed the linkage cover, can you email me & Dave the .STL file and we'll print them off locally and get'em fitted

    Looks stunning, well done.
One question springs to mind, and I have already fallen foul of this with my car, which is frustrating. Can you replace one master cylinder in situ or do you have to remove the whole pedal assembly to do it?
It’s easy in the build phase but when the body and dash are in place you have to become a contortionist!

Hi Mark, Yeah it's doable with the body on. :-) No need to remove the entire Pedal box.

You'll need someone to do a headstand on the drivers seat to hold the bolts on the inside, while you do the honours under the wheel arch, a double jointed socket malarkey would probably help, as access to the bolts isn't straight forward.

I can not find any photos on the home computer, Ill have a look on the works laptop tomorrow I am sure I took some. I also had a look through my build on the forum and could not see any but it was Peter that suggested putting a cover over it and it is a good idea, I know I have caught the cover a few times and thought as I was driving just as well that is there.

Steve I am sure I made it from Alli it was long before I had the 3d printer, I'm not sure I could print anything thin enough to fit the space available.

    Hello mate, Thanks.
It's a good idea and I'm going to do something.
Maybe 2 M6 bolts down through the floorpan, to hold a curved 'guard' that follows the radius of the linkage as it moves through its travel.

I plan on attaching the Front beam to the chassis in the next week or so.
When the chassis came out of the builders, the beam was attached with 4x M12 Bolts rated at 8.8 Class/Strength.

    I googled this because these 4 bolts are critical;
and of course I found seemingly respectable online retailers selling VW Front Beam bolts rated at 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9; With most claiming their versions were OEM :-)

So which is the correct rating for these bolts? What are you using on your build?

    Hi Steve,

I'm not sure which one is correct, but I went for 10.9 from VolksBolts on ebay ....

Given that I don't intend to be thrashing the car round a race track I reckon 10.9 will do me just fine, so it will

Hi Alistair, Useful link there, thanks.
I have used volksbolts before to supply fixings for my CV joints, price looks decent compared to various other suppliers.

I think an occasional thrash around a track would help to clear out cobwebs, for both car and owner ;-)

Hahaha ... you've got a point! The Knockhill Racing Circuit is about half way between Phill and me, and the thought of the pair of us having a go round the track is enough to keep me going with my resto!

... or better still, if the 2 of us and others from up this way travelled down to Castle Combe to join the rest of you and have a whole fleet on the track at the same time!

Steady on chaps, could start a whole new series of car . Formula Nova. (and all the bloody regs that would come with it).
