So looking at that does that mean the shafts friction rub against those cups when at a lowered or raised position depending on the forces being applied to the suspension. Seems a strange design to me if that is the case, a bit rudimentary if its designed to rub against something when rotating.
The shafts don't rotate, they will rest on the outer casing.
My view is that with the clamped ones they would act on the up and down movement .
The cupped ones would only work on the down, not the up
