    UK sources for reconditioned engines

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

A while ago I mentioned an oil leak that was getting worse... So I stuck some fluorescent dye in the oil and ran the engine for a while. When it got dark, I looked around underneath the car with a UV lamp and spotted a few drops. They were just where the engine mounts on the gearbox. Not good:likely to be the flywheel seal.

So a few days later, with a couple of helping hands I pull the engine. Sure enough, once the clutch and flywheel are off we can see that the seal is split. Not only that but there are millimeters of end float and a groove has been worn in the metal.

So looks like an exchange engine is on the cards: anyone know of a good source, preferably in the South East of the UK?

Not the cheapest, but VW Heritage are a good starting point. East Sussex

Also The Engine SHop seem to be pretty active on the VW scene currently - http://www.theengineshop.info/ Erith

Both are good choices, I believe there are some engine recon firms who advertise on fleabay too... I ran a quick search and these are what I found, not what I posted in the past on the ebay searches, but its a good starting point.

Now, how did I miss that link in the ones I found? I thought I added it too, at least you caught it and added it to the list

Decided to go with The Engine Shop in the end. More convenient to where I stay when I'm in the UK.

BTW it looks like CoolAir are just down the road from them.

Pick up planned for 1st June
