I have to agree that the seal makes a much nicer job. It does seam funny though that in the 70's 80's a bonded screen was quite innovative, the first one I had anything to do with was on a Citroen BX , but now with it being common place on most cars, the seal makes the Nova / Avante look more retro and in-keeping with the period.

As you know, my screen was fitted by auto glass.
It had the same issues as Lauren describes to start with before the hood was painted so I raised certain areas with small amounts of filler etc so it sat well.
When the screen was fitted auto glass then trimmed a standard 20mm seal to sit on top of the screen, and then bonded everything together.
    Very pleased with the finish.
The trim seal makes perfect sense when there are irregularities.

Thanks for all the input guys - I've got a bit of thinking to do!

As I have to address the issue of the distortion caused by the wiper motor re-positioning I will continue with my efforts to re-curve the screen aperture. I am hopeful I can get the screen to within a mm or so of the bodywork, which leaves my options open as to which way to go with the final finishing.

Speaking of sunroofs, anyone know where I can get one that will fit?
The old one doesn't inspire me with confidence.
