    My original Nova

I've been routing about looking for old pictures of my first Nova that I built back in 1984/5

Originally it was a black Gelcoat finish, unfortunately I don't have many pictures of the completed car as it was involvedf in a crash a couple of months after first completion

But just like Dirk and Mick - we can rebuild it making it better than before. In my case I painted the car red, fitted a new floorpan, side skirt and did a bit of fibreglass repairing until it was (almost) as good as new

I sold the car soon after the re-build and bought the Capri I still have now. But my original car had a lovely 1600cc pancake engine from a VW fastback , I also really liked the wheels it had on back then. I wish I'd never sold it...which is why I eventually bought another

I too love those wheels, much better than the original turbovecs

    Hi Phil,

Great to see additional pics of your previous Nova (from both the black ‘as built’ and red ‘as rebuilt ‘ periods). I think there is only one picture of the Red (repaired) Nova in your book, and these additional photos really do show off the car nicely!

    Cheers,

    Colin

Nice trip down memory lane:-) When did you sell it? doing a quick check looks like it was last taxed in 1987. I guess its stuck in some garage gathering dust.

Dirk, are you sure it's not one of your collection?

That's interesting to see the car is now listed on the Dvla website as I have searched for it many times in the past but it has not been listed until now. Does this mean the car has recently changed hands and the most recent owner has updated the v5 in their own name causing it to re appear ?

I sold it in 1986. Some time later I saw a nova for sale and went to view jt. Turns out it was my old car but it was in a bad way. The screen had been replaced with a sheet of clear acrylic and it would appear the car had been vandalised with someone pouring paint stripper or brake fluid over the bonnet. Not sure what year that was may have been 1987 or 1988. But it would appear it never made it back onto the road

That is a shame considering all the work you had done.
Although mine had never seen the road and I was the 12th owner.
    It’s out there somewhere ........
