Show Us Your Nova/Avante/SS in it's previous life ....

    Hi all,

I came across this photo tonight of my Nova in her previous life.

She's being driven by Michael Abel of Aberdeen, who transformed her into a similar coloured Nova in 1983. I bought her from him in 1986 and made a few changes including reshaping her rear and changing the colour.

Most of the work I'm doing in her current restoration relates to the chassis, interior, and electrics, etc, so when she hits the road again she'll most probably look much the same as she did when I took her off the road in 1991.

So have any of you got photos of your car in it's previous life? I'd love to see them if you have.

    Cheers, Alistair

Here's my car when I first got it home 11 years ago.

It had no interior (not even a steering column) and no engine, but was complete with all bodyshell panels, a windscreen as well as some period alloy wheels and most importantly a V5

Here is mine as purchased back in 1989, it was a nicely finished car at the time, albeit the colour and mark II read end wouldn't have been my first choice. Lots happened to her under my ownership since then

I remember taking a photo of it at Newark around then David .... with you and your girlfriend (at the time) standing nearby. Why did you swap the Mk1 bonnet for a Mk2? I'm not surprised you went back to the Mk1 recently. I think you've done a tremendous amount to the car bearing in mind you're so far away!

11 years!?! But it looks like a different car Phill ... your Gulf wrap has really transformed your Nova, and you did a power of work on the chassis, engine and interior. Hopefully road legal very soon!

    Cheers, Alistair

    Inspiring photos Jim!

For those at the start of their project ... your duckling can become a swan!

... Also interesting to see the 'pre Nena' could tow a caravan!
