Finally got the center console built.

Still needs a little work to get it to fit right

Looks very OEM, what Finish are you doing it all in?

Brett, great work young man (insert bees knees Icon)

It looks fantastic sitting in the car, i like the light switch position.

Didn't have the grand kids today so I spent it making the panels that go around the head lights.

This will get bonded in place and feathered into the body once I get the adhesive for it.

started to tie up some loose ends today.

Got the side panels semi mounted.(recessed the mounting holes)
After I got it mounted it occurred to me that I never really tested the cup holder in the pockets to see if they really worked

So I figured now is as good a time as any.

First test was a soda can and a 500ml/1.05pt of bottled water. Couldn't find a cup from a fast food place.

    PA270002.jpg

    No issues with those fitting.

Next I found a 591ml/20fl oz bottle of water

    PA270003a.jpg

Thats about as large of a drink that will fit. So it may not be perfect but at least I have cup holders now.

There is a story behind this and why the car needed cup holders but thats a story to be told at some other time.

    Looking good Brett.

Yes I remember the cup holder debates from the sterling site. One of the things that I liked about the Subaru dash I'm working on is it had a vertical OEM cupholder built into it. As I can't find placement for the nice billet ones I purchased at great expense!

That’s a very practical improvement to the original side pockets Brett.

I take it your story for another time involves some spillage? That reminds me of a friend of mine who took his wife’s 2 seater Honda to do the shopping and when he got home he found that a carton of milk had burst in the passenger footwell. He tried to clean it out but every time the heater was on the smell was, .... well, .... I’m sure you can imagine!! The car went into the garage to get the carpets removed and steam cleaned a couple of times but they never quite managed to remove the smell completely

Anyway, clearly you won’t have that problem. Great work!

    Alistair
