Another item that I've done to my car that anyone can do
Early style electric power steering units require only the control module to make work.
They use torque sensors to monitor the direction of the steering wheel.

The unit is installed between the steering column and the steering box
To adjust there is a gizmo for the Saturn Vue that you can use instead of the inputs from the speed sensor etc..

Thanks David for the help. I guess I didn't understand what he was asking
As the link that David supplied says, you'll need the EPS unit with the metal control module case (2002-2007). Other units had sensors moved to the steering column and those used a plastic case.
This is about as simple and easy as it gets to convert to EPS and the cost is very reasonable.
A while back I think Sector mentioned of using an RX8 EPS unit. I believe you would need to use the whole steering column for that to work.
Here's the wiring diagram for the 2005 Saturn Vue.

I would prefer something that set the power steering automatically according to speed, I am surprised no one has come up with a little box to take a pulsed speed signal to the serial data signal that it requires.
This might be a stupid question but what does the DLC stand for that supplies the serial data?
Dirk
DLC = Data Link Connector. The connector that the scanner hooks up to
Here's some info that may keep you thinking
EPS that don't require the ebay adapter to work
In one part he says that you can use a control module from one car and use it on the Saturn Vue to make it work with out the ebay part.

I wonder if something like this would work.
A hall effect speed sensor. It's mounted to the CV joint and delivers 5 pulses per rotation

The most common on Europe would be the Corsa one. The later models had speed input but early ones like the B didn't.
The opinions expressed in my posts may not be made in a sound mind and should be taken in the spirit intended, Jack Daniels is fine. Autism isn't something you get or can be 'cured of', it is the way we are wired, differently.
