Thread: Pantograph Wiper Mechanism

    Pantograph Wiper Mechanism

Whilst in Australia last week I had a hire car, a Toyota Yaris 2019 model. What I noticed as soon as it rained was that it had nifty off-set pantograph wiper mechanism that sat flat at the bottom of the screen when parked, yet cleared the screen effectively all the way to the drivers side butting up against the windscreen pillar. It someway remined me of Lauren’s set-up.

If I had the car with me here, I would have been very tempted to see if I could make use of it on the Nova. It would have been better to do that before I made the new dash as I would need to have moved the motor depression to being off-set too. So a little too late for me now, but posting it here in case others want to experiment as you have access to your cars to check its fitment out.

And no this wasn’t my hire car! Just an image found on the net

Looks very promising. Definitely worth investigating.

That's got to be worth a look at, and looking at the pics on ebay the washer tube runs up the arm as well.

I'm sure it will fit, but less certain that the geometry will work for the Nova windscreen, which is quite an extreme shape. Hence the length of my synch arm extension at the wiper end of the assembly...

But with some (hopefully minor) changes I am sure it will clear more screen than the factory set-up...

I don't remember who mentioned it, but aren't any of the pantograph arms on some lorries/trucks, busses, coaches and tractors etc a viable option?
    They're certainly longer.

Personally I still think the Mercedes A-class wipers, side mounting, is worth a look.
