Eagle SS 2+2 convertible body for sale £600 on Facebook

Taken straight from advert .... he tried to sell it on Ebay for £550 in the middle of June but didn't get any bids

Check out Facebook for pictures ... https://www.facebook.com/commerce/li...are_attachment

Rare Eagle kit car shell, not ss or nova
    £600 · Leamington Spa
Rare eagle kit car shell with front screen, bonnet, bumper, dash and rear engine cover etc, will fit onto a full size vw beetle floorpan
Not perfect by any means but unusual, I am having a clear out so putting some of my items up for sale if it doesn't sell ill keep for another day, just seems sad that its not being built. Possibly only four vw shells left
Fibreglass is in good condition but has been hand painted at some point, there are a few items that need minor repair where it keeps getting moved. Its is steel reinforced through the main body so is heavy and a well built kit in its day.
Please no silly offers it is an unusual good looking body but I just havent got the time at present
    May px something interesting

I hope someone picks it up, looks like another kit stripped of it's VW parts. Certainly in a VW garage which says it all really.

It is a very rare MkII 2+2 targa top. Whilst it has the VW 'kipper' footprint it also has a flat floor so my guess is it it a Ford donor kit with one of the early chassis that had the same footprint as a VW but Ford Escort running gear these were made for the early SS, RV (Cortina) and 2+2 (Escort) to avoid the retooling that took place for the later ladder chassis.

There are a few bits missing like the door cards, dash pod and tunnel.but that is usual, I never even had my door cards. Nasty crack on left front wheel arch but other tan that I would snatch it in a moment if in the uK. Always liked that version of the 2+2, not so keen on the soft top with the 'pram' cover.

Unsold at 550, so I hope it survives.

Is it worth buying to save it.

    Hi Peter
I have spoken to the seller and made an offer but he is sticking hard to the price. It's not a look I like but I would hate to loose a piece of history but is it worth it in real terms buying. If I did a quality build with VW engine what would it be worth?
    Regards

At a guess it would be worth about what the quality of the build was, with the likelyhood that a more desireable body would swiftly replace the yellow one.... sorry, but for me that screen choice killed the concept from the start....
It's a 52 year old car and everything works, just not always at the same time.......and it's probably about to get jealous!

I agree, on that version the screen is not the best choice but I'm sure with a lot of effort it could be changed, the other model of the 2+2 is really a SS with the roof off so has the raked screen of the SS but the rear end is crap.

Unfortunately rarity is not a deciding factor in buying anything, Even my E30 although my Mercedes Cosworth has rocketed three fold in 6 years.

That body would need the floor cutting out to fit the VW 'kipper' as it's for the Eagle /Ford chassis. I cannot see from the photos if it still has one underneath if so the Ford route may be better than the VW one. I had a look at all the photos and it looks like just the shell.

Apart from the front left damage it looks solid but does it have all the bits? Roof, dash pod, door handles, seats, Headlights, side/rear glass, Door panels, etc. If not these could take a lot of your time and money.

In 100% good nick it could fetch 3K+ but would need to be nice. A very nice weekend car with the top off

    Thanks for your views

Just a quick thank you for the views you have expressed which I value and acknowledge all the points. As I see it, I love the build of my SS and one day may find a Nova to make the set. Thanks again and wishing you all well.
