Size of the steer column shaft on a stock VW steering box?

Anyone know the diameter of this shaft on a stock VW steering box?

The equivalent on my Polo rack is 16mm, I was wondering if the Beetle shaft was the same diameter?

    Steve,

I've just measured mine with a digital caliper and am getting 16.07 to 16.14 so allowing for the paint it looks like you're in luck!

Thanks both! That's useful because I can purchase the Beetle/EMPI part to connect to my Polo steering rack, which I can then bolt onto.

I was lucky as the Triumph Dolomite fitted both the Talbot Samba and the Citroen C15.
