In my opinion the car is easily worth £20,000. Mine has an agreed insurance value of £10,000 and that figure is just based on the receipts for the parts I have bought it does not include any labour for the 2 and a half years spent building it. Marks car was finished to a much higher standard than mine so should command a much higher price. There are probably only 2 or 3 Nova's that are to this standard in the UK. So I would say very rare in this condition.

I wouldn't say it was overpriced.. If a top-end Mk1 or Mk2 Ford Escort can be sold for the thick end of 100k, then why shouldn't a top-end Nova go for the thick end of 20k?

The car is beautiful, road going examples are rare.
If you cost-out the parts, and factor-in the Labour needed to build it, 1000 hours @£5 per hour (sorry Mark). You'll get to a number > 20k.

So that kind of money seems reasonable enough to me.

Oh I believe it and agree with how that particular car is worth that kind of money.

Please respect the current seller and myself on the comments which may or may not be said.
When I sold the car there were many discussions on one thread which I asked Dan to remove as it was not fair on the car itself.
My car is worth what anyone wants to pay for it. It is up for sale again, but I am already being contacted about the history and price I sold etc.
Please respect what the current owner is doing.

I have no opinion about the current owner/seller Buffy, the price may be scary to me but as Steve and others have mentioned, the car is lovely and I happen to agree with them about the value.
You put a LOT of effort into making it what it is and while its sad to see you had to let it go, I know it still means a lot to you.

I think most people realise that you are going to have to pay at the very least the parts cost if you want something that works well and looks good. All people that have or do work in the motor trade, even casually, will value their time as more than 0, and that the final bill for any work on a car today is usually more than the parts. A good looking build takes a ridiculous amount of time.

I’ve owned one of my Nova’s for 30+ years. Back when I purchased my first one 3k+ was considered high, 15 years later $3K was still thought of as high…..go figure.

30+ years later there are fewer and fewer top notch examples with good body, good paint, good mechanicals (the latest suspension parts and water cooled engines) and properly finished interiors. I can count on one hand those that tick all those boxes in the last 30+ years. So yes Jim and Marks cars are very very very rare indeed.

They easily should command those kind of prices and more in my book.
