Hi David, Just a word of caution. These screens are notoriously difficult to remove from the canopy without breaking. It's not impossible, but can be risky and a new screen will set you back not far short of £1K. I'd be more inclined to look into utilising the existing canopy first (unless of course the screen has already started to unbond itself which was the case with my screen and the main reason I was able to remove and re-fit it without cracking it).

Dave, when I was also ‘bloody clueless’ several years ago I asked the Forum for advice on restoring the chassis. So I bought a welder and practiced till I gained enough confidence to ‘go for it’. It worked out fine so I moved on to the next thing I didn’t have experience of. There are still things I have to learn to help me finish my Nova but it’s a journey I’m enjoying.

Just focus on getting the Nova up to Glasgow and then take it one step at a time ..... your’re so close! Just stick with what you’ve got and work away doing some things yourself and outsourcing the rest.

Main thing is .... just bring her home and don’t sell/exchange her!

Purely by accident I found that acetone will help remove silicone and mastic, makes removing badges, stickers and even screens a lot easier.

I think acetone may also attack the canopies gelcoat as acetone is commonly used as a cleaning solvent when laying up GRP

I haven't had any reaction on 'cured' GRP, (yet). I think it would need to really soak in to do any damage.
